Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 20, 2008 3:00 pm Hi all,
Want a warm cheerful color for my feature wall, which is in the living room, the big wall people will see after step in from entry. In the color consultant's office, found a purple one was good. But like burgundy for a very long time, just not sure if it's good to put on a big wall. What color do you guys to put on your wall? What do you think of burgundy as a feature wall? Thanks, Aulyna Re: Feature Wall - which color - burgundy? 2May 20, 2008 6:00 pm Aulyna_1 Hi all, Want a warm cheerful color for my feature wall, which is in the living room, the big wall people will see after step in from entry. Thanks, Aulyna We have lots of feature walls in our home, but I found the darker colours made the room too dark... good for Theatres, but no so good for bedrooms and living rooms unless you have a big open plan where it can get a lot of light. Have you got a sample of what you think it would look like? Re: Feature Wall - which color - burgundy? 3May 20, 2008 6:57 pm Aulyna as joeygbh stated….dark colours do pull a room in, but if you are using a light colour on all other walls in the room, it should be ok!
What furnishings you use with the deep feature will also make a difference as well. We painted a wall in the Solver signwriting range. It was v expensive but it looked fabulous.
If you are after drama it works well Re: Feature Wall - which color - burgundy? 7May 25, 2008 7:56 pm Michelle Aulyna….can you post a photo of the room? Hi Michelle, The room hasn't got internal wall yet. Only the plan: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Do you think the wall between the dinning and kitchen can be used as a feature wall? My color consultant said it's NOT a good place to pain as a feature wall as there was a door on the left hand side. Think it's a greate color, but couldn't find a color sample from paint shop. Can I just ask the shop keeper make the color? Do you have a photo of it? Love to see it. If I get a chance I'll call into the shop and see if I can find it for you. Its a deep rich colour and we received many comments about it being beautiful. I might even use it again myself lol. Re: Feature Wall - which color - burgundy? 10May 26, 2008 6:16 pm Aulyna….I have to agree with your colour consultant, feature walls and doors don’t jell well, unless you are prepared to paint the door in the same colour as the feature wall.
This room is a tough one…..there are windows and doors all around the room. Is your staircase going to be open, so you see under the stairs? If not I would look at doing that wall a colour, kill 2 birds with the one stone……colour in your entry and the colour can be seen from the living and dining rooms. What colours do you like??? And what colour flooring are you having? Feature walls – 1) Family Room- left wall on the plan, back of study wall. 2) Entry wall – right-hand side of plan. 3) Master bedroom – behind bed 4) Bedrooms 1,2 and 3 if you like – behind the beds. Not much room for one in the lounge/dining area. There’s no real wall space to use. You might have to use artwork for these areas to add colour. Plus cushions and rugs.
