Custom build in the Hawkesbury

I've found this forum to be an amazing source of information over the past months so thought I'd jump in.

Our story so far...
We paid deposit on 1/2 acre block in November last year. Sold our house 1.5 hours after going on the market and we are now living with my parents while build happens.
We looked seriously at a couple of different builders then Maximus from this forum advised us to look into the custom builder he was using. ( Thanks Maximus).
We did and have been really pleased with the inclusions and communication. Our house is 39 squares, 2 storey with main living and master bedroom at rear to take advantage of the river frontage.

Will post plans once I work out how:)

We selected our external colours on Saturday:
Bricks - PGH- blue steel flash
Windows- monument
Roof- colourbond monument
Fascia - dune
Garage door - dune - flatline design
Render features at front - dulux bear suit

We are still waiting on land to be registered but will be ready to go to council as soon as that happens.
After what seems like a very long wait (nearly 5 months) we received surprise phone call today to say our land has finally registered! Settlement is scheduled for this Friday:) We're hoping to go to CDC so hopefully only a few months off turning soil.
Well, after waiting 14 months we are close to starting our build. To cut a VERY long story short, we were classified as being in a Flame Zone BAL and have been fighting that for months.

Our DA was approved last week at BAL 40 on three sides and 29 on one side. While this is still high, it is 200k cheaper than the original Flame Zone so we can go ahead. Needless to say we are very excited and are hoping to turn soil at the beginning of April.

I'm going to attempt to upload a photo of our view. If it works I'll put up some more.

So I can see the photos worked! Not sure how to embed them from the iPad but here are some more.

Congratulations! We too brought a place in November 2013, had a few hiccups too. Doing the living with in laws while we do this planning game.

We are at the nearlygettingplansintocouncilstage. Hoping to build in june.

How much extra did you pay for blue steel flash?, we like his brother nickel flash, and waiting for the builder to get back to us about the price difference.

Yikes! Totally deluded by the planning and building process
Hi Building4my3tots,
Not sure how much we paid for blue steel flash because we went to the builder with our list of things we wanted included and asked them to price it up. We've loved blue steel flash bricks since we started looking at houses so asked for that from the start.
We chose our colours so long ago now I hope we haven't changed our minds:)
Just found out from build they are $1100/1000bricks plus GST, but also learnt from this forum the nickel flash is a painted brick. And we have told ourselves to say away from them due to chipping. So we're back to finding another one.

I'd get the gutters to match your roof and pipes to match the paint - otherwise they become a feature. Nice pick with the paint colours!
