Re: CountryHome's country build 110Jul 06, 2014 8:31 pm Just read your first post again about your 18 month old. Lovely! Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65085 Re: CountryHome's country build 111Jul 06, 2014 8:35 pm EmyN Oooh congratulations CountryHome!!! How exciting! Wow that will be a busy time for you haha. I can't remember, is this your first? Pretty exciting about a slab only being a few weeks away. Here in Brisbane it took 9ish weeks to get council approval, does yours not take that long? We've already got council approval. It took a bit over a month. Now we just have to apply for the building permit, which apparently is much quicker because they already have approved the plans. I think. Er meh gawd sometimes I have NFI tbh. It might be longer than a few weeks away!!! And this is number two bub. We have a boy who will be two in September. And we only have a two bedroom house currently (and two indoor dogs), so would really love more space before this baby comes! But as I said, not holding my breath that we will be in by then. So might have the baby in a bassinet in our room for a month or two until we get into the new place. It's a bit of a fortunate dilemma to have and I'm certainly not complaining Our build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=69984 If you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain. Re: CountryHome's country build 112Jul 06, 2014 9:19 pm I've been checking regularly Firstly congrats on the contracts coming through - I'm sure it will all happen super fast! Huge congrats on your pregnancy, lots of exciting times ahead hope you get Into the house quickly so you can enjoy your new baby and new house together! Your builder does have a great rep for building quickly compared to many, they don't seem to muck about Build thread http://tinyurl.com/llgc7yk Re: CountryHome's country build 113Jul 07, 2014 4:39 pm Thanks BB, I'll certainly try and update more. Hopefully there'll be lots to update about! I haven't heard one bad thing about our builder yet, but no one is perfect I am sure there will be at least one hiccup. Emy, I asked about the council approval today and apparently normally all approval applications are lodged together after contracts but because some of the quotes were taking a little while to come back, the sales rep lodged the application for the DA earlier once we knew we were completely happy with the overall layout/structure of the build as none of the info we were waiting on would affect any easements or energy ratings etc. So now that's been approved, the building permit should only take about 5 business days to be issued. I do think the bank approval will take longer than that, but hopefully we can have the go ahead in a couple of weeks So contracts have been signed and lodged with council this afternoon and I'm starting to get a bit excited about it again now. Definitely getting the urge to hang around this forum more (I got a bit emo about it all when I felt like things were stalling, combined with morning sickness I haven't been here as much). Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65085 Re: CountryHome's country build 115Jul 07, 2014 8:46 pm Congratulations!!! Great about the contracts but even more exciting about being pregnant! My fingers are crossed for you that the approvals come through quickly. I'll be following with interest Re: CountryHome's country build 116Jul 08, 2014 1:18 pm Thanks Cat and Emy Our build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=69984 If you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain. Re: CountryHome's country build 117Jul 11, 2014 12:43 pm Not much to report. We got our copy of the contract all done up in a binder today, makes it all very exciting. We also got our invoice for the remainder of the deposit, which says it is strictly 7 days. And yet I doubt our finance will be approved by then, so this has me a bit worried. I've just read the contract and found a bit saying we don't have to make any payments, including deposit until they show us they have shown us proof of builders warranty insurance. And there is also a clause in there for cancelling the contract if finance is not approved. But I can also see clearly the interest charged for late payments, so this has me nervous! I've emailed the builders and hoping he can put my mind at ease. Our build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=69984 If you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain. Re: CountryHome's country build 118Jul 11, 2014 1:30 pm I was in the same situation recieving an invoice. Agreed with builder that deposit (6.5%) is made on final finance approval that needs the building permit in place, so just before going to site. That was over three months ago and still probably 4-5 weeks away. Re: CountryHome's country build 119Jul 11, 2014 1:47 pm Thanks Jays, that's reassuring to hear. Well, reassuring that it should be the norm to wait for build permit before paying.. Not so reassuring you're still waiting months later Our build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=69984 If you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain. Thank you so much everyone.
