Re: CountryHome's country build 57Mar 23, 2014 3:13 pm Another vote for no 4. It's kinda in between the others, some variation in it but still looks authentic. Hard to choose from computer colours though. At the end of the day, I guess it's which one will go with all your existing furnishings. Re: CountryHome's country build 58Mar 24, 2014 7:02 am Thanks for all the responses/feedback, I feel like it's probably the biggest decision because it will change the look/feel of the whole house. Trees, you're right. It is so hard to tell from the computer pic and even from the sample square. I wonder if any of the other display homes at the display centre have used it in different colours that I could go check it out. I might ask the flooring company. Fee, :waves: hi lovely! I wondered if you might be on here! I love your username, one day!! Staxy, I agree that I think the darker looks good with the laminate boards. I am leaning that way too. And yes, land is sooooo ridiculously cheap here. You would be shocked. But the downside is that we aren't likely to make a profit if we sold in a few years so we want to make this our home for a good number of years. In other, crappy news.. I called the solicitor on Friday to ask about settlement date and apparently the vendor still haven't signed their contract! Grr. They've just had a baby so haven't had a chance to get to their solicitor, but surely they could post the papers to them? I'm trying not to think the worst and think it's because they've changed their mind on our agreed price. This will delay it all so much if they don't bloody sign it soon. So frustrated. Is there anything I can do to hurry them along? In a town this size I see them at least once a week, but feel like it's pretty unprofessional of me to mention it to them? Re: CountryHome's country build 59Mar 24, 2014 7:37 am Congratulations on your purchase hope they get all the contracts signed shortly, so it doesn't slow things down. Your style of build is very similar to the look we are after with our new build. Our offer was accepted on 5 acres in the Southern Highlands of NSW last week - so all going well, we can start building sooner than later. Do you mind sharing or PMing who your builder is? We have just started looking at more mainstream builders now we know the orientation of the land, but are considering going with a private builder and architecturally designed home so its exactly what we want. We only want a small 3 br home, with large living area, big laundry/mudroom and passive solar principles incorporated. Love the flooring options - we are tossing up between the laminate boards and bamboo everywhere (except for tiles in bathrooms and laundry) - we have 4 inside dogs and 2 inside cats, so our flooring gets quite a workout. We have polished concrete in our current home, but its slightly more industrial looking, so not sure how it would go with the modern country feel? Congratulations on your 5 acres, that is awesome, we are not good with much yard so our quarter acre is plenty enough for us I've heard great things about bamboo flooring, but I think there's a huge difference in price between bamboo and laminate? We are trying not to over capitalise due to the low resale value in our area so I struck bamboo off the list early on I'll send you a PM, but I think I'm a fair bit further south than you and not sure my builder travels as far as you.
