We are going to be starting very soon, just got the titles approved today YAY! We are building in the Serpentine-Jarrahdale region. Hi, we are building in the Canning Vale area, south of the river. We have some friends that have just built in byford which is a bit nearer your way Lloyd Re: Our house build - Brick Stage 22May 31, 2008 1:59 am melanie02 Hi Lloyd....that,s great news....fingers crossed that they start real soon Looking forward to following your progress...what sort of time frame have they given you for the build? Ours is around 7 months....but we,re really hoping that it will be less...in by Christmas would be nice! Cheers Mel I think about 6-7 months once the build starts, weather and labour permitting I guess Lloyd Re: Our house build - Brick Stage 23May 31, 2008 2:03 am Pebble Great news! It gets so exciting once things are about to really start happening! It's coming up to a week since our stuff was signed, so hope to see some action next week. Had a false alarm today when someone came to deliver a trailer load of tiles - but turned out they were lost and the tiles belonged to next door. strange you mention false alarms, a few weeks ago when we were still waiting for approval , we suddenly had a phone call from the client officer saying the supervisor wanted to meet us on site, we were very excited about this for a few days. Then we got a phone call to say sorry they had our phone number mixed up with a different build and they didn't mean to call us..... Yes DH is very keen to meet with the site supervisor. It's raining here at the moment, so I don't think the earthworks fellows would be too happy if they have to start next week in such soggy ground ( a lot of clay here). Not exactly the best time to start building a house I suppose, but at least they won't have a problem wetting the slab. Re: Our house build - Brick Stage 25May 31, 2008 4:44 pm lloydmav we finally have building approval!! wohoo at least thats some progress they say hopefully work will start in just over a week we'll see... That's great news Lloydmav. Now it's time for the fun to begin Make sure you keep taking photos for us all. Paula Re: Our house build - Brick Stage 28Jun 27, 2008 7:54 pm still waiting.....we were told site works would finally start last week if not this week at the latest, got a call today to say its now planned for next week, but that its probably not even going to start then as there is some rain forecast next week.
grrrr .....I hate this waiting, the worst thing is that we are so powerless to do anything, and completely in the mercy of whatever the builders decide as they have a whole bunch of excuses they are contractually aloud to use. Whats the point in these building contracts when they're so full of get out clauses?? It seems to me they are put together mainly to look after the builder from anyone who wants to complain. Lloyd Re: Our house build - Brick Stage 29Jun 27, 2008 9:56 pm It,s so frustrating isn,t it Lloyd
You are so right about being at the builders mercy Our slab has been down a month now and we got a call to say that the frame and bricks will be delivered July 7th....hoping that they will start shortly after..... How long ago did you sign up? I hope they start really soon....you,ll probably catch us up Good luck Mel Building on 9 acres Re: Our house build - Brick Stage 30Jun 27, 2008 10:44 pm I was just thinking the last time I was on here, I couldn't believe how long it was taking for your bricks to arrive. We haven't experienced as many delays as you. We signed up in february I think it was.
They were late sending the building approval, the building approval then took forever. But the builder has every right to take 45 working days from when we finally got building approval to when work must start on site according to our contract. OR to a reasonable amount of time, AND can claim for days with bad weather / labour availability/ materials etc. So we have absolute no rights to complain from a contract point of view. The contract never really gives you a chance IMO We had building approval on the 26th May. So in working days that gives them til about the 28th July, which is ages away and if they wanted to claim rainy days I guess......... Maybe if they hadn't said we'll push it through for you or, should start this week....etc Lloyd Re: Our house build - Brick Stage 34Jul 01, 2008 11:25 pm melanie02 That,s fantastic Lloyd You might have a slab by next week Then your porta-loo will arrive..... You might overtake us Cheers Mel hopefully things will move along quickly for us both now Lloyd Re: Our house build - Brick Stage 37Jul 15, 2008 11:06 am Congratulations Lloyd
Great looking slab It won,t be long now.....you,ll be walking through your frame in no time Ours has been ****** on the ground for a week now and is due to be put up on Wednesday or Thursday.....fingers crossed Look forward to lots of pics Cheers Mel Building on 9 acres Re: Our house build - Brick Stage 38Jul 15, 2008 11:17 am oo exciting times ahead. Once the slab is down everything seems to happen so fast. I bet you can't wait. Don't forget more photos. Re: Our house build - Brick Stage 39Jul 15, 2008 11:46 am Congratulations on your slab! Its very exciting isn't it. We got our slab over a week ago and I can't stop visiting and pacing around planning everything. I'm even imagining where the furmiture is going suddenly. Fi has moved in!! Hi Kristy Around $1.7-1.8m or around $4,600/sqm. if you PM me your email I will send you a break up in a spreadsheet so you can get an understanding of the costs for… 1 9979 Not unless you have managed to put it as a special condition into the contract somehow. 1 6155 The fastest thing a builder will do is bank your cheque, those systems work perfectly with lightning speed, everything else is slow burn.
