Exciting times ahead. We signed our contracts today, so hopefully we wont be too far behind you. Re: Our house build - Brick Stage 46Jul 15, 2008 11:54 pm thanks everyone, getting very excited now, can't wait to have some walls to walk around so I can visualise the space. Everything looks a bit small when you just have a slab.
Mel, no frames over here in wa, just double brick walls. Hopefully brickies migth start by end of next week, weather has been very ******* lately though Lloyd Re: Our house build - Brick Stage 47Jul 16, 2008 9:45 am This should be fun, Atm there are a few of us from WA on HomeOne due to start building. I think this is the first time there's been more than one person here from WA building at the same time. Now there's you, Monkeyupatree, Matrix, Pebble and me. I'm sure there is someone else as well. Hope I haven't forgotten anyone. Sorry if i have.
You are the first with a slab. Re: Our house build - Brick Stage 48Jul 16, 2008 10:07 am Hi lloyd, I havent really read many of your posts so I dont know the suburb you are building in but I wanted to have a guess. Judging by the hills on the background and the sandy soil I would guess you are near southern river back of Kelmscott? am I close? You are the first with a slab. first thing I noticed when I joined up is that they're isn't many of us from wa and so it was difficult to find a thread with perth builders, lets get everyone in perth posting!! Harrisdale close to Canningvale Lloyd Re: Our house build - Brick Stage 53Jul 22, 2008 12:47 am harisdale?? must be a new suburb never heard of it, havent been there for about 5 years and there is plenty of land around the back suburbs near huntingdale, southern river, canningvale all sorts of new suburbs popping up. Re: Our house build - Brick Stage 55Jul 22, 2008 11:32 pm Well, turned up monday to find that our bricks, sand, loo, and shed had arrived. Window frames are due to arrive wednesday and Bricklayers early next week, although the weather forecast doesn't look too promising....
Also noticed that the guy who delivered our bricks managed to reverse straight over one of our ensuite vanity pipes, not so clever! Just gonna hope we get some fine days next week... Lloyd Re: Our house build - Brick Stage 56Jul 23, 2008 3:21 am nice house!!!! I remember walking through a display house similar to yours......the entrance was fabulous. I fell in love with it, unfortunately for us, it was well out of our price range. Looking forward to your updates.
edited: to fix up my bad spelling....it seems that my spelling deteriorates at 2 in the morning!! Re: Our house build - Brick Stage 58Jul 23, 2008 6:46 pm Yeah we really love the way the floor plan has turned out. We have made quite a few changes to the display home. Its originally had 5 bedrooms, but we got rid of one so that we could make the sitting room bigger (gym) and add an alfresco.
We also move the garage forward so that we could add in a study and also make the WIR much bigger. Also we completely changed the portico and we're hoping our design for the front will look really nice, but I'll let you all wait and see rather than showing you the picture This is kind of our dream home so we have gone with glass splashbacks, stone bench tops and de longhi appliances etc...just hope our colour selections work Lloyd Re: Our house build - Brick Stage 59Aug 06, 2008 10:44 pm Bit of an update
Can't believe how long this is taking, would anyone else be p**sed off yet? Still no start on the brickwork. We signed the contract back in January and we still don't have a single brick. Slab was poured 3 weeks ago. We were told that we'd probably see some brickies on site a couple of weeks ago, never happened, then we were told that they would be on site beginning of last week. NEVER HAPPENED. There were a few days of rain and showers so despite the fact others brickies were working in between the showers I forgave them in the hope that they would be right on it this week in the 3 days of lovely sunshine...BUT NO. So tuesday I said I wanted a scheduled start date and they said they were due to be on site today (wednesday)....but again they still weren't there. And on top of that, on my fiances daily visit to the site today she witnessed a couple of guys loading up all our cement from the two pallettes into a ute, they then got back in the ute sat for a few minutes before getting back out with a pair of bolt cutters and breaking into the shed and removing some of the contents. So she took down their registration and reported them to the builder. Builder then gets back to us and says that the supervisor gave the contractors permission to take it for another job. But bolt cutters? He said they were expecting some more cement tomorrow. Now to me that is just *******, and sounds to me like more potential delays. Should I be kicking up a stink yet? Or am I being too impatient? Supervisor has booked us in for a brick meeting on monday (though it looks like its gonna rain again) gggrrrrrrr feeling so fed up already, I really thought things were gonna move quickly Lloyd Re: Our house build - Brick Stage 60Aug 06, 2008 11:04 pm Kick up a stink!!
Sometimes it's the only way to get things done. I've learnt that unless you make lots of noise, they just ignore you. And you don't need to do it in an aggressive way, just let them know that you are really, really unhappy . Goodluck. 'chelle We have a hand-over date...15/10...but I won't hold my breath! http://people-in-glass-houses.blogspot.com/ Hi Kristy Around $1.7-1.8m or around $4,600/sqm. if you PM me your email I will send you a break up in a spreadsheet so you can get an understanding of the costs for… 1 9980 Not unless you have managed to put it as a special condition into the contract somehow. 1 6156 The fastest thing a builder will do is bank your cheque, those systems work perfectly with lightning speed, everything else is slow burn.
