Browse Forums Building A New House Re: building with red ink Darling Downs 21Mar 15, 2014 12:50 pm Looks great. Love your great big veranda. We've got a little one, but I'm excited to at least have a little cafe table out there for watching sunset! I always love timber cladding, I think it looks really great. Wish we could have fit it in. And I think it would look lovely with your style of house. But that's just my two cents We're so stuck trying to decide on exterioe colour scheme Good luck. Re: building with red ink Darling Downs 22Mar 15, 2014 2:05 pm Yes the property is fenced, at least on three sides anyway. The front paneling is nice but this design is more coastal. I'm thinking about having single red brick up to sill level and then two course bricks up to eaves. I've seen a lovely house up in bedfordale with this brick combo and it looks great. I don't know about anyone else but I'm waiting for the police to come around given I've been street stalking looking at house brick combos lol. A slow drive by in a black tarago does look a bit suspicious :/. We have extended the front verandah to wrap around the front if the house completely (no more protruding theatre) . Delay on land settlement which is a bit annoying, but hey another month of saving Re: building with red ink Darling Downs 23Mar 15, 2014 2:11 pm Ardie maybe it's time for you to do some kerb crawling too lol Re: building with red ink Darling Downs 24Mar 15, 2014 4:32 pm Wow that's one big house but it's gonna look great, looking forward to following your build Re: building with red ink Darling Downs 25Mar 16, 2014 12:02 am Thanks torz, we love the design too. More changes tonight but essentially the design is done. I'll get the newest design up shortly. Re: building with red ink Darling Downs 26Mar 16, 2014 10:18 pm Looks good nuadventure! - long pieces of furniture from hall way into door way - toilet and bathroom on external walls for windows; light and ventilation - doors to split the house into zones (for ducted air) - if you can push the games and bedrooms out a metre or so, the living dining area would then be rectangular and would look awesome with a pitched ceiling right through to theathre. Just some ideas which I'm sure you don't need any more of at this hectic time . Nice piece of land you have and a nice spacious plan! Looking forward to your build. Re: building with red ink Darling Downs 27Apr 03, 2014 11:01 pm Thanks LC. I did think about a pitched roof. Would add on an additional 25K which is currently being absorbed elsewhere. It would have looked awesome though. Perhaps if I can make some major savings in sitework department, then maybe I might be able to wing it. Not sure how I can change the wc ventilation issue. Wil speak with builder. Re: building with red ink Darling Downs 28Apr 04, 2014 10:10 pm So, given that settlement has been pushed out till the end of april , I've decided to hop onto colourbond visualiser to get a bit of a feel on the external colour scheme. What do you think? I was thinking cream 2c bricks but it looked a bit blah, so currently testing red and tan with different roof colours. Your plan is huge, but I think it will suit the setting perfectly. Also love seeing other QLD builds on here, there never seems to be many of us I've never really been out your way, the furtherest west I've been is Toowoomba! How far from there are you? 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Re: building with red ink Darling Downs 34Apr 05, 2014 3:16 pm Thanks stellabella, we are actually in WA,so quite a distance from you:). All going a bit slow at the moment, settlement taking for ever and starting to make me feel grumpy . really hope we get titles at the end of this month, would be very happy to see something........anything....... happening. Very impatient lol Re: building with red ink Darling Downs WA 35Apr 05, 2014 3:33 pm Oooh I thought it was Darling Downs in QLD! Haha! Yeah that's pretty far lol. We signed our contract in April and nothing happened on site til September...not as long as some people, but I feel the pain of waiting! Trust me, it's all worth it once it starts 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Re: building with red ink Darling Downs WA 36Apr 08, 2014 2:14 pm Hi nuadventure, well I like the light coloured roof, but mostly because I think it will keep your house so much cooler in the summer:) Though it loooks really nice. Maybe you could add dark trim or accents in the dark green. It's a great colour. Re: building with red ink Darling Downs WA 37Apr 08, 2014 2:24 pm Hi Ardie, it's really hard to choose. Never thought I'd become this obsessive about bricks and colourbond lol. I totally agree about the light roof, I'm pushing for it, but struggling to find a light brick combo that works well with it ie looks too bland. Finally found a brick I like, brickworks tivoli, only to find it discontinued and redink tells me they only use midland. This colour would look awesome with a paperbark roof!! Have put it out there to find out if anyone had used brikmakers, all very quiet. Are they really that bad. I heard the term 'lay one throw one'. Eeeek Re: building with red ink Darling Downs WA 38Apr 08, 2014 2:35 pm Good luck with the bricks. That was one thing we settled on quickly and early, everything else on the other hand has not been that painless. We're also struggling to keep the colour scheme light and cool, but not too drab and boring. Right now we're hoping to add some dark accents via the window frames, garage door, front door and verandah posts, but we really need that design consult ASAP to tell us if we're nuts or not Re: building with red ink Darling Downs WA 39Apr 10, 2014 3:21 pm It's a fine balance, I'm sure your design consultant will help bring everything together. Re: building with red ink Darling Downs WA 40Apr 15, 2014 5:00 pm PHWOAR! This is a great plan! We are building on a cottage block at the moment, but have been talking about having something like this for mum to live with us eventually. LOVE it! We wanted a dark roof, but settled for a shale grey roof with monument gutters and whatever the thing under the gutters is called. We have limestoney coloured bricks... could something similar work for you? ______________________________________________________________________ Signed up Jan 2013........Almost done! My thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65763 I’m restoring all my 40yr old windows and I want to install seals around the casements. I’ve sanded back and oiled the frames with sikkens. My plan is to box up inside… 0 6513 go upvc window frames ensure insulation under colorbond. not just sarking, lighter color roof also not sure if you have seen this viewtopic.php?t=5823 last couple of pages… 4 110570 |
