Re: Aussie Living - AMBERTON - Waiting 4 Paint to Begin 444May 04, 2015 4:12 pm First ever poster! Justin I've read your thread as are hopefully building in Alkimos Beach. I want a kitchen window like yours behind my cooktop and wondered if you could give me its dimensions? Did it need to be tempered at all? Just wondered with it being behind the stove. Also did it cost any extra? Currently our prelim plans have a standard window there (and a larger one on another kitchen wall) just so that a 2nd window is included. I really want a fixed narrow one kije that though. Much appreciated and congrats on your home! I think the glass is a little stronger but nothing crazy, it wasn't really a cost at all as I moved things around and changed the windows. I did this pretty early in the game so I don't actually know what the cost was as it was prior to pre-start days. Sorry I am not too much help! Re: Aussie Living - AMBERTON - Waiting 4 Paint to Begin 447May 04, 2015 9:19 pm Hi This is the shelf, You can get narrow ones as well. http://www.ikea.com/aa/en/catalog/products/50177727/ I actually have one on my kitchen bench for my utensils container because I can slide the mortar and pestle underneath. Re: Aussie Living - AMBERTON - Waiting 4 Paint to Begin 449May 04, 2015 9:54 pm That's great, thanks Justin I've screenshot it for when I need it. All your choices and furniture etc look great, different from the 'norm' but not out there ott. I dread to think what my OH would do if he built on his own, lots of beer fridges dotted around massive TVs I suspect! I dread to think what my OH would do if he built on his own, lots of beer fridges dotted around massive TVs I suspect! Hahaha that reminds me of what my OH predicted the world would look like without women in it...he reckoned there'd be no furniture or pretty stuff and you'd look out the window and just see a heap of bon fires burning on street corners with men standing around them. And I'd like to add to his prediction by saying that in my experience, none of them would be talking!!!! Not all men have good style or taste like you Justin that's for sure! When I met my OH he slept on a mattress on the floor and everything in the house was black. Except the toilet seat which was made of WOOD...yuck!!!! Have just spent the last few days getting through your build to date. We're very nearly to the point of signing with Aussie Living so has been good to get a recent perspective! Loving your house and can't wait to see it as a home!! Re: Aussie Living - AMBERTON - Waiting 4 Paint to Begin 453May 05, 2015 12:25 am Hey mate, lots happening at yours too! Tree looks sweet and well placed. Only concern is how it will be when it growns and matures, up over the neighbour's fence? Black bench tops look so good and clean, and I'm jealous that you've got stone throughout! Also realised (and probably have already said it) that our bathrooms/ensuites look ridiculously similar both colours and fittings wise. Kitchen/living is going to be an awesome space for sure. Staying tuned! First Build, Commodore Homes, Alkimos Beach. Is this typical of all? I have been saying for months that I think the chick we got just hates us and now I read your builder replies and it's the same tone Re: Aussie Living - AMBERTON - Waiting 4 Paint to Begin 455May 05, 2015 12:48 am They like to say no to everything don't they! It's like you already know what the answer will be before you even ask something lol Re: Aussie Living - AMBERTON - Waiting 4 Paint to Begin 456May 05, 2015 1:05 pm PerthAussie2014 Hahaha that reminds me of what my OH predicted the world would look like without women in it...he reckoned there'd be no furniture or pretty stuff and you'd look out the window and just see a heap of bon fires burning on street corners with men standing around them. I would say his thoughts are right but there would always be some pretty things even in a guys world as he hasn't taken into account the gay community. This world he is imagining is totally blokey straight male 'grunt' and eat meat kind of world! haha! Love it. Wow thanks for the comments on my taste and style, not sure where I get it from! Aussie Living have been great overall - only advice is to add all your extra's and sort your plan as much as possible PRIOR to pre-start, will save yourself a tonn of cash! Thanks for following, let me know if you have a blog too!!! BS12 Hey mate, lots happening at yours too! Tree looks sweet and well placed. Staying tuned! Thanks BS12! The tree doesn't have an extensive root system and the side of the house where the neighbours are is not their 'entertaining area' so if it goes too far over as it grows it can always get cut back. Have to keep the neighbours happy Glad you like the bench tops - I am super excited about them. And yeah, our colour choices are so similar its crazy (even patterns)!!! Are we twins? I have been saying for months that I think the chick we got just hates us and now I read your builder replies and it's the same tone I am not sure hey. I am always a bit harsh on customer service but in this instance I am find with the responses I get at the moment. I can say they definitely have improved on keeping me up to date - in all honesty I think I can be high maintenance but I am sure there are people worse than me and I am sure that there are others who are just so laid back that they are not overly worried. So with it all in mind it probably evens out Re: Aussie Living - AMBERTON - Waiting 4 Paint to Begin 457May 05, 2015 2:21 pm Oh too easy then. How much will it grow? Excuse my total lack of knowledge when it comes to plants and trees haha. Haha chances are if its black I like it. But definitely in the case of bench tops. I was going to originally do white cabinets and black bench tops... but changed my mind First Build, Commodore Homes, Alkimos Beach. I was going to originally do white cabinets and black bench tops... but changed my mind haha all good - possibly double the size, has massive white flowers (they look prehistoric) but that's at a max. Its root base is big but wouldn't damage house foundations like some other trees. haha once you go black you never go back on colour hey? I love colour (as an artist you'd have to) but it doesn't need to be too in your face on walls and the home 'substance'. It can be in artwork and furnishings (I think).
