Re: Eden Brae vs Elderton 2Feb 22, 2014 2:01 pm Very hard to compare the two companies of you do a search of elderton and Eden Brae you will find good points and bad points about both companies. Eden Brae is alot more popular than elderton so getting infromation about elderton might be a bit more difficult. I am currently in process of getting a tender done with Elderton and can not not them fault them at all up until now. I also dealed with Eden Brae but found their inclusions to be lacking Re: Eden Brae vs Elderton 4Feb 24, 2014 11:59 am Hi Anujas, I'm building with Elderton but did look into Eden Brae extensively before making my choice. My findings are below: Eden Brae: Priced more than most other builders considering our requirements. We’ve heard good feedback about Eden Brae – they offer a fixed price contract, which means no surprises later on. A couple of our friends have built with them and their house is of a very good quality for fit and finish. From what we've seen, their houses are finished well within contract times. Eden Brae is a large Project home builder when compared to Elderton - who are on a relatively smaller scale. Elderton: Flexible - custom design to suit our needs whereas Eden Brae were restrictive in what changes we could make to their existing plans. Slow admin process - a few mistakes here and there. Fit and Finish of standard display home was good. Standard inclusions were on par with other builders, some promotions were even better. Variations are reasonably priced for common items: power outlets, light provisions, etc In the end our decision to choose Elderton was made based on the design and pricing side of things. I’d suggest you visit both their display centres, find a design you like, then look at the basic inclusions and go from there. I would STRONGLY suggest you get at least 2 competitive tenders (doesn’t matter who you go with). The money spent on the 2nd or 3rd tender will be paid back many times over during your contract negotiation. Good luck with your decision, building your 1st home is very exciting. Re: Eden Brae vs Elderton 5Feb 24, 2014 2:43 pm Hi iankun, Thanks for replying back... nice to read something in details... Actually we have already selected our house plan... both eden brae and elderton has to modify little bit here and there...eden brae is charging lots for the changes we making...and thats a bothering us...and elderton does not want to give us a rough quote till we pay them 1000 bucks we are really confused between the two. If you dnt mind where are u building?... Re: Eden Brae vs Elderton 6Feb 24, 2014 3:49 pm Hi Anujas, I sent you a PM. The $1000 for a tender is normal for most builders. And believe me, once you get into the nitty-gritty with upgrades/variations, $1000 seems like spare change when variations start costing $5k upwards. What designs are you looking at from either builder? Send me a PM if you like. If they're similar in size and inclusions then the choice should be easy depending on cost. Re: Eden Brae vs Elderton 7May 28, 2014 10:16 pm We just finished with EBH and have not had any experience dealing with Elderton. Every builder will have their good and bad points. In the end choose who you feel comfortable with and who can offer you the house plan that you want. What might seem cheaper now you will end up paying for it in exttra's. For example speaking to people building with McDoald ones their kitchen is on par with ours and they wanted 7k upgrade cost for a poly kitchen - where as EB charged 3k. So what might seem cheap to begin with you could be stung for the extras later on. And its those extras that you want to turn the house into your home that you can not get an indicaiotn of price on. I couldn't fault my experience with EB. and im so happy. but i have friends who regret choosing them. Everyone's expereince is different. it sepends on the staff you deal with, the SS your get, the trades who build your house. Trust your instincts. Sorry prob not much help.
