Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 20, 2014 10:54 pm Hi all, in a bit of a situation with the builder, having fallen for the trap " if you make the final payment by 2 days we will get you the Certificate of Occupany at the same time. Well that never happened and turned out they could never provide me with the Certificate as there was outstanding fees owing back at the approval stage Fee's ACT planning ( Canberra ) building levy 3153.01 Training levy 900.86 Workcover 450.43 total : 4504.30 So these were due 10months before they finished the house, but they never told me about them. i was under the assumption all fees were included in the price as thats why its $50k more for the list price in Canberra compared to Syd *** In the contract Special Conditions it does state that they are not liable for ACTPLA fee's however they must issue a variation for approval and acceptance for the contact sum to be varied** this never happened They have been in Canberra for a few years so this is nothing new and this fee is is associated with all builders in Canberra so one would think it would be included in the base price My question: Is there anything i can do? or do i just pay the fee?
