Our roof face North- west so no need to split like you. Build Thread : viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81624 18 panels total, 9 each aspect. Re: KDR with Sekisui House: post handover 2382Jan 28, 2017 5:31 pm yvonneh After around 2.30pm our western facing array is out performing the northern facing panels. So the spilt seems worth it Good to hear I am especially interested in how it will go in winter. I think having that Western split will be even more useful then when the low sun is just glancing sideways off the northern panels. We will see though! Build Thread : viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81624 If you want to make a dent in your electricity bills, you will need more than 5 panels - probably 18 or so like Yvonne. But if you do want to add panels later then you will also need a larger inverter to make use of them - otherwise you will only ever be able to produce as much electricity as the inverter is rated for. We have gone with 13 on the North roof and 17 on the West. It's a bit over the top for summer, but it should cover electricity usage in winter. I did the sums on the extra capital cost of the panels vs the payback from not really using the electricity they generate (and only getting a minor or no feed in tariff) and I'm still looking at around a 5 year payback period, maybe 6. And here I was thinking the angle in winter would be better than summer. Today the conditions were great. No clouds, sunny but maybe too hot. We peaked about 4.4kW... So I'm hoping winter will be better. By 5pm our panels were not doing much. Keep in mind we get a lot of western shade from gum trees so I suspect Clintdb you will get output late into the evening. That's going to make the biggest difference I hope so... Love all the space we have and this will add more! The most exciting thing is going to be able to open those doors! shazaw Wow very high. Can’t wait to see all finished. Haha. Me too! Creating a big hole in the bank account that's for sure. Btw I'm glad you gave me Nathan's details. He and his crew are going well so far. Re: KDR with Sekisui House: post handover 2389Feb 11, 2017 9:39 am Hey Yvonne, what airconditioning did you get please? Size, brand and type? Are you happy with it? We have similar size houses I think.. we're trying to work out what to get. This "natural ventilation" thing we were going for isn't always all it's cracked up to be We've gotten a fair few quotes, but they're all quite different so finding it hard to work out which will be the best. Re: KDR with Sekisui House: post handover 2391Feb 11, 2017 10:39 am I forwarded an email to you. We went with 3 zones and 17kw. And the ESP+ Actron. (ducted). Still love it! Especially today. And when we have solar powering it all! Yay! Re: KDR with Sekisui House: post handover 2392Feb 11, 2017 10:44 am Since I'm posting and it's a weekend here are a couple deck progress photos Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The gazebo will have seating and council has needed 1500 mm screening which will be good although an added expense esp since we are going spotted gum! Least the kids can escape into there to cool down/ Re: KDR with Sekisui House: post handover 2395Feb 11, 2017 12:28 pm yvonneh I forwarded an email to you. We went with 3 zones and 17kw. Just to give you an extra comparison cat_dunc: We went with a "Classic" 19kW system, upgraded to an "ESP Plus" 19.32kW system. We were advised to go to a 23kW system given the floor area we were covering (322sqm - not including garage, alfresco etc) but decided against it. In yesterday's 45 degree heat we were at the limit and the internal temp got up to 26.5 degrees at the worst part of the afternoon. But in the 11 months we have been here, that was so far the only time that we haven't been able to maintain our preferred temp of 25-26 degrees - so perfectly fine with not spending the extra $3,000 Just so you know, we added an extra two outlets for a total of 13, an extra controller (1 on each floor) and an extra zone for a total of 4 (All bedrooms, the lounge/kitchen area, the front rooms on the ground floor and then the final zone is the "games area" upstairs which is the "common" zone that is always on when another zone is). If I had my time again, I would probably add an extra zone for the master bedroom. We don't like have the A/C on in the bedrooms whilst sleeping, so the "bedroom" zone gets turned off when the girls go to bed, but our master bed with the extra window area can feel slightly warm on those hot evenings by the time we go to bed - so it would be nice to be able to leave the A/C on in our room only for a bit longer. I would also have added an extra outlet in the WIR in the master bedroom - the cool air doesn't filter around the corners to the WIR and the Ensuite as much as we would like. Not a huge issue, but would have been worth the extra $500 or so for the extra zone plus outlet Have a look at my plans to see what I mean in terms of where there zones are (link in signature below). It's a big house as you know but we never thought about asking how big the aircon unit would be!! Do you know what there standard kW size they might be giving us? We are at slab stage so wondering if we could upgrade....we are renting just round the corner from where we are building (oran park) and the summer temps this year have been incredible to cope with and our rental has no aircon...!! Re: KDR with Sekisui House: post handover 2400Feb 12, 2017 12:29 pm Sorry about the post above...just reading it through I think you have a single storey home? We are having a double storey built I should probably just call Burbank on Monday to find out!! Hopefully we will get the chance to upgrade our aircon unit if it's not powerful enough without an amendment to contract fee! We were lucky in that our old house was so small (86 square metres) compared to the new house, they were able to take enough readings around the old backyard house before… 8 37142 The biggest challenge will be if you take out a loan and then run out of money - you'll have an incomplete security and lenders do not like this so you can get stuck.… 2 19097 Hi, I am looking into doing a KDR in Melbourne and am contemplating using Kialla Homes. I am looking for feedback on them from others who have built with them. 0 13444 |
