Browse Forums Building A New House Re: KDR with Sekisui House: waterproofing and kitchen cabine 881Feb 19, 2015 11:46 pm we may still do it as there are benefits of having a non fiddly landline (rather than VoIP) and extra movies may be handy. For you maybe a Netflix account could work better Re: KDR with Sekisui House: waterproofing and kitchen cabine 882Feb 20, 2015 9:31 am Our block of land is at the end of a battle axe, so i imagine it would not be cheap to run a phone line to the house. I will definitely be installing a tv antenna though! We will have 3 tv points in the house. I will definitely be installing a tv antenna though! We will have 3 tv points in the house. I can't remember the cost (don't want to remember!) of having a trench added for the Optus cable to be run (I think it was $1500). Annoying as we had poles along our driveway but were asked to remove them as part of the build (by SH) as they were going to run the power underground (which is good) but then what are we doing with Optus? Yeah I think we'll have to bite the bullet and install an antenna and possibly the optus deal too. It does devalue it to some extent Re: KDR with Sekisui House: waterproofing and kitchen cabine 884Feb 20, 2015 10:19 am Ahh thats a shame! Im not sure how much ours is going to cost yet, but i am sure it will be something astronomical. How long does your trench have to be? Re: KDR with Sekisui House: waterproofing and kitchen cabine 885Feb 20, 2015 10:22 am our trench is probably over 20 metres. But the bad and scary thing is they need to dig into rock. So we are expecting additional costs from there (and it's all an unknown number!!) The trenches need to have water, gas, electricity and optus cable all at different heights and shielding I believe) Re: KDR with Sekisui House: waterproofing and kitchen cabine 886Feb 20, 2015 10:52 am Ahh i see! that kinda sucks. is your house at the end of a long driveway? Is your builder doing the connections or is it being done by the utility companies? Re: KDR with Sekisui House: waterproofing and kitchen cabine 887Feb 20, 2015 10:53 am Builder is doing the connections and the trenching. We're a battle axe block (not street frontage) hence the long driveway. Re: KDR with Sekisui House: waterproofing and kitchen cabine 889Feb 20, 2015 12:10 pm yeah our power use to come in to the house via poles, and the water was installed poorly (just under a concrete driveway which meant we got only hot water from the cold water tap due to thermal mass) so they need to do the trench for power anyway, we asked for the water to be dropped into a trench, gas (new we didn't have gas in the old house) will come in via the trench and we paid extra for the optus cable. The issue is that they won't rock in their costings so we have to wear that part Re: KDR with Sekisui House: waterproofing and kitchen cabine 892Feb 20, 2015 11:51 pm Congratulations Yvonne!! ExceptI don't think it'll be as easy to check in. Not that much more to go butI know our SS is worried about getting the tiler in to do their bit. We also don't have a garage door yet. I should add to the things you forget thread the option of a taller garage door. We have a dropped floor and a raised ceiling so we could have put one in. Re: KDR with Sekisui House: waterproofing and kitchen cabine 895Feb 21, 2015 9:54 am cat_dunc Ah that's a bugger. The good thing is you have the space so you could retrofit one later if you need to Not so easy to retrofit. But not a biggie either. At least DH hasn't really complained or requested but when I saw how low it will end up being (standard height so not that low) and saw how much height we have it seemed something that would be great in hindsight. From the front you can't tell so the elevations wouldn't have helped but when inside the garage it seems like a no brainer! The courtyard will look terrific. Will you cut some of the concrete out to make way for the tree/planter box? My guess is that they aren't going to tile under the cabinets, but fingers crossed they do. As for the waterproofing pattern - maybe that's to do with how the tiles will be laid and how they'll fall toward the drain? I'm not sure! You're having under floor heating in there aren't you? That's not in yet is it? Re: KDR with Sekisui House: waterproofing and kitchen cabine 898Feb 22, 2015 12:06 pm With those expansion joins in your ceiling, are they anywhere near where an upstairs external wall is located ? With your waterproofing they use a 150 -200mm material or fibreglass bandage where there are floor penetrations ( floor and vanity waste etc ), over the sheet joins and around the entire perimeter of the bathroom as a base for the membrane. Everywhere else they just paint the compound straight onto the flooring. I am looking for feedback on them from others who have built with them. 0 8194 |
