Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 14, 2014 12:48 pm Hello! This is my first build and I am after a little advice. I am building a double story home with burbank. We paid our deposit on the 29th September 2013. Our land settle 29th November. We had our colour appointment on 12th December. We only signed contracts on 4th feb. From what I have read I know Burbank are slow and take a long time but is this normal? When was your water connection made? Ours still is not done and I was informed today there might be a problem with the location, and it may cause a delay! Thanks for the help! Re: Your experience with Burbank 2Feb 15, 2014 11:41 pm For me, I have no drama with burbank so far, things are moving on well so far. I think after they and you solve the meter location problem, your build will start, and saw other ppl said only water company can move the meter, or burbank find another solution for you, such as flip the whole plan so thant the drive way is on the other side? Guessing... Re: Your experience with Burbank 3Feb 16, 2014 8:24 am If you've had basically 4 months between paying your deposit and signing your contract then you should be thrilled! That's fast by any big builder's standards. It took them 10 months for us. They don't mess around once construction starts. You'll be in before you know it. Completed a knock down and rebuild in northern Melbourne. Handover completed 27/09/2013 and now moved in. Re: Your experience with Burbank 4Feb 18, 2014 12:06 pm Thanks for the feed back! 10 months is a long time blue side! Where you in a hurry, or happy to wait? It has taken them a week to discover there is no problem with the meter and they have now ordered it from south east water! Hooray! We started construction on the 12th of October 2013 (burbank cut the grass on this day), we reached lockup on the week of the 13th of December 2013 with which Burbank went on Christmas break until the 13th of Jan. We now have PCI tomorrow 20th Feb and handover for the 6th of March. its only been 3.5 months of work time for Burbank. 25sq home in Narre Warren springs. After getting some research in through this forum, we chose New Home Inspections. They have come in after framing and also will attend PCI with us tomorrow. Burbank are quick to respond to the reports provided by the inpsectors. They fixed 100% of the issues found and provided images of the fixes. Narre Warren Springs Estate 8May 27, 2014 5:12 pm Hi DS Build We are building in Narre Warren Springs too and we have just found out there is an issue with soil compaction. Really disappointed that we are now up for a lot more money. So perhaps it is not the builder, but the estate. You may want to check with them. Ours is in stage 3. We were lucky with our land, right place, right time ready to build on. If it didn't happen like that we wouldn't be building! Did you have to wait for your land to be subdivided? Where are you building? Yes I think the land has to be in your name, before you can get the permit. I assuming your building with Burbank? Which office are you dealing with?
