Thanks Trees. Not much to update this week and hard to get photos from outside. We were really worried about the bathroom size because it was a lot smaller than the display. We're pleased with the outcome.

And your laundry looks lovely and big!! Can't wait to see more of the kitchen!! Keep those photos coming Thanks Trees. Not much to update this week and hard to get photos from outside. Re: KDR - Dale Alcock Eastern suburbs - Tiling 262Jun 19, 2015 11:48 pm So another big week for us, but it hasn't been an overly happy one with the new house. The good news is that we chose our RE agent and our house is almost on the market! On the new house, Our site supervisor is changing company and finished up today. I suspect this is one of the reasons things have been a bit slow on our job. My wife met the new supervisor on site and was happy enough! I really liked our previous SS and wherever he ends up will be lucky to have him. Progress during the week was slowish after the plumbing and electrical a were finished up early in the week. Some previous poor work was rectified which is good. Our HWS was also installed. Painting and some more rectification stop go, but that's pretty much it! Hopefully will have a PCI date early next week. After last nights rain I thought I'd check out our ever painful drainage situation this morning. Can't say I was surprised that there were issues, but I'm a bit tired and frustrated of raising the same issue with the builder. Photos below show the issues... Fingers crossed your new one is just as good, it sounds like he has big shoes to fill!! How frustrating about the drainage, hopefully they rectify this issue for you soon, but as you say you shouldn't need to raise it multiple times with the builder! Congrats on your current home too that is excellent news! Re: KDR - Dale Alcock Eastern suburbs - Tiling 264Jun 20, 2015 10:41 am D_rail we had a change of SS in our build. It happens quite a bit, apparently. The new SS didn't get all the notes from the previous guy so we had some issues. So maybe repetition is the best way to go! What about emailing your pics to him if you haven't already done so? Were storm water drains installed? Fingers crossed getting your house underway for sale won't be too much of a hassle, makes for a very busy time for you! Understandable that updates have been slow, you have lots on your plate! Re: KDR - Dale Alcock Eastern suburbs - Tiling 265Jul 03, 2015 12:00 am They had been installed Trees and they were hooked up to the street drains. Just not flowing as they should. I'm not sure the issues have been rectified, but hoping to get a decent down pour before handover and before we put down paving/aggregate to check it out, Our build has been meandering along over the last couple of months. We finally got a PCI date today and that will be 13 July. That will push handover to exactly two years and one month since purchasing the house and walking into the display home. I haven't been in the house for over a month so have no idea what state its in. We'll be organising a building inspection prior to PCI and hoping to get in prior to the PCI meeting, Our current home is on the market and we had a home open last Saturday. We had a bit of interest with follow up viewings on Sunday, but no offers of yet. Another home open this weekend. We've finally got around to organising some more retaining and fencing. Hopefully we'll get back into our neighbours good books. We got a quote on exposed aggregate, but at $130/Sqm, it seems a little expensive to me. We'll have to get some additional quotes and perhaps think about liquid limestone. Happy to take any recommendations or guides on pricing that anyone might have. Also have to get out backsides into gear and organise some flooring, window treatments and air con. Re: KDR - Dale Alcock Eastern suburbs - Tiling 266Jul 03, 2015 10:54 am We had liquid limestone in our last build and although it looks good at first and is great underfoot (never gets hot and no ants) I wouldn't have it again. Being a natural composite it stains over winter and goes green/blackish in parts just like limestone blocks. Also there's no way you can get oil off it, even when "sealed" so at least we didn't pick it for the driveway. We cleaned it using a high pressure hose each season, but during a rainy winter there's nothing you can do about the discolouration. Here's an example of how it looked all winter. I can't find another photo of the general area but we had it in our spa and pergola area and paths around the house. I see what you mean about the liquid limestone. May have made that decision a bit easier. I guess if we sell our house before we make the decision, the budget might be less of an issue! Re: KDR - Dale Alcock Eastern suburbs - Tiling 268Jul 04, 2015 12:28 am Sure do, it was DIY. Got nearly all the materials as left overs from the build and front fencing, the door from a salvage yard. It was a cookhouse for our old wood stove. You can just see part of the chimney above the roof on the left. Very cosy inside in winter!! sometimes I sat in there when it was raining, enjoying the rain on the roof and the smells of cooking and wood smoke, & dream of a country home... Now I'm there Re: KDR - Dale Alcock Eastern suburbs - Tiling 269Jul 04, 2015 5:18 pm A custom made shed, I like it. Care to provide us with a quote? So I could get into the house this morning, and took a few shots. The cleaning crew were in there, but most trades need to come back and finish. There's a growing list of things that need rectification. Let's hope they're dealt with prior to PCI. Love the surfmist with the bricks, so clean and fresh looking. We have one light switch on an angle...not square. I have yet to let them know. But different heights??? or they will have to dolly up the holes and redo. Not sure what they can do about the face brick though. I was really not wanting a chrome shower screen frame but it came standard, now seeing your's I'm pleasantly surprised at how good it looks! Re: KDR - Dale Alcock Eastern suburbs - PCI countdown 271Jul 04, 2015 11:30 pm Your house is looking sooo good! Shame about those switches, you wouldn't think it'd be hard to do it properly! Re: KDR - Dale Alcock Eastern suburbs - PCI countdown 272Jul 04, 2015 11:44 pm Thanks Trees. We love the elevation and how it's come up. Going to test the boundaries and go with a contrasting dark fence colour and gates. They can replace a single face brick, and they might have to do that yet. They have to do it elsewhere in the house where they got the location of an external tap wrong. We've also just noticed that we're not happy with a power point switch in the kitchen. It was drawn to be placed in a window. I can't believe that we and the builder didn't pick this up. Rather than placing it on another location on the kitchen bench, they've located it to the side of the bench. Not the smartest location given kids and kitchen appliances. Not sure how this will be resolved, surely they should have contacted us and said we can't put the power point where you requested, do you want to change or delete it? Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We didn't love the chrome shower either, but couldn't justify the frameless costs. We also didn't have the room to do a brick feature pillar that we really wanted. This would have hidden the frame to a large extent. Re: KDR - Dale Alcock Eastern suburbs - PCI countdown 273Jul 05, 2015 12:17 am Building that shed was the cheapest but certainly not the easiest, we won't be going in to production any time soon... Ooh contrast fencing sounds good! Yep it seems logical that they should let you know about the wrong placement...Amazing what gets missed at the drawing stage - at least they can't charge you a variation fee!! I have only seen the pillar thing on this forum, but thought it looked really good. Also useful for extra storage or towel rail space. (My builder is adamant he won't do frameless. Reckons they are a hazard. So it's either a frame or a tiled nib wall, we've opted for the nib in the ensuite. Bit more than frame cos of extra tiling and bricks, but cheaper than frameless.) Re: KDR - Dale Alcock Eastern suburbs - PCI countdown 274Jul 11, 2015 4:02 pm I don't have the skills nor patience to build something from scratch. Our fishpond was the limit of my capabilities. PCI on Monday. Send us your tips....we're taking a building inspector with us. We received our final invoice on Friday. A bit shocked with a few grand of additional costs to PS figures. I thought they would have had to tell us before now what those additional costs were for. Our temporary fence was almost as expensive as a brand new colorbond fence. Have asked for further details regarding these costs. And the sale of our current house is going slowly. At least five groups have been through the house twice with a few through three times. One lowball offer which we actually found comical which was made after the couple filmed our house room by room (actually gives us the creeps). And the school holidays made today's home open pointless! Re: KDR - Dale Alcock Eastern suburbs - PCI countdown 275Jul 11, 2015 6:10 pm After building the cook shed we realised we don't have the skills or patience to build another one hehe. I found a PCI checklist on line which I used. Here's the link, I can't remember which one I actually used ( it was a year ago) but thought you'd like to check out what's available. https://www.google.com.au/webhp?sourcei ... 0checklist Wow, filming room by room? They should just view the photos on line if they forget what it looks like! Ah, the joys of school hols. Deja Moo festival made town like a ghost town today, so it was quite pleasant to go out and about.... Re: KDR - Dale Alcock Eastern suburbs - PCI countdown 276Jul 12, 2015 5:18 pm All the best or PCI on Monday. Hope it goes well, it is great that you will have a building inspector with you. You will have those keys in your hands very soon! Re: KDR - Dale Alcock Eastern suburbs - PCI countdown 277Jul 13, 2015 10:14 am Today's the day, hope it goes well! Re: KDR - Dale Alcock Eastern suburbs - PCI countdown 278Jul 13, 2015 10:55 pm Thanks all. Today went pretty well. They've been pretty busy over the last couple of weeks to get to today's stage and the last few days must have been hectic around the house. We had a building inspector along. Not sure if it's protocol but our SS didn't hang around and just asked for the report to be emailed to him. I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing. We mentioned a couple of plan errors to the SS before he left and he's already on top of fixing these things, so I'm hopeful that the next couple of weeks will be smooth. Our inspector came up with a list of 49 items to fix. He came up with half a dozen items from up in the roof, so i don't think anyone had bothered checking in there. I can only encourage others to make sure they check their roof spaces before hand over! We used the rest of the arvo to look at flooring.... Not the easiest task with two little ones but it certainly makes you effect in decision making.
