Browse Forums Building A New House Re: KDR - Dale Alcock Eastern suburbs - Cabinets 246May 18, 2015 3:45 pm I've been stalking your build for a little while now It's all looking great - I love your elevation, I really wish we had of gone with something like yours but alas! The dropped bench in the bathroom is a great idea too & am loving your kitchen & the glass cabinets look wonderful! Re: KDR - Dale Alcock Eastern suburbs - Cabinets 247May 27, 2015 10:55 pm Thanks for all of the lovely comments. Apologies for the lack of updates, but there really hasn't been anything to update. The tiler lined up for our job is no longer with Dale Alcock and we've been on a holding pattern for over a fortnight. We keep being given revised dates for work to restart and they pass with no action. In some ways the update gives us time to get our current house ready for sale, but it's frustrating to wait when the house is so close and given how long we've waited since signing our PWC. It's now 18 months since signing up. And two years since we bought the old house! Adding to the frustration is the multitude of trades who don't turn up for quotes or cancel at the last minute. It really shouldn't be so hard but I guess it's part of living in Perth. I'm thinking positively and I'm sure we'll see the tillers before the end of the week! Re: KDR - Dale Alcock Eastern suburbs - Cabinets 248May 28, 2015 9:12 pm Sorry to hear about the tile delay, that must be really frustrating D_rail. Fingers crossed you see something before the weekend. How annoying about the other tradies too, you wouldn't think it would be so hard finding a reliable tradie!! I bet you can't wait to have it all done and for the momentum to pick up again Re: KDR - Dale Alcock Eastern suburbs - Cabinets 249May 29, 2015 10:30 pm The positivity worked. On cue, windows in the raked ceiling were inserted on Thursday, floors were screed and the roller door was being installed today. Water proofing is going in tomorrow and I have a meeting with the tiler on Monday! Things are moving again and I've been told we'll have keys by the end of June. Re: KDR - Dale Alcock Eastern suburbs - Cabinets 250May 29, 2015 11:26 pm Good news!! Will you have heating installed straight away? Re: KDR - Dale Alcock Eastern suburbs - Cabinets 251May 30, 2015 11:16 am Excellent news D_rail. Very happy for you KDR - Dale Alcock Eastern suburbs - Cabinets 252May 31, 2015 7:52 pm The good with the bad.... An open door meant we could have a look around inside. Pretty much every room has cracking between the wall and cornice. Obviously you expect some settlement cracking, but I have some concern with the extent of the cracking and how quickly it has occurred. Another issue to add to the list to discuss with the supervisor! Trees - we have a couple of quotes for reverse cycle air con and should have enough time to organise it before we move in. We still have to sell our current house so we'll hopefully have a month or so of overlap before we move in. Re: KDR - Dale Alcock Eastern suburbs - Cabinets 253Jun 04, 2015 12:32 am That's not good. I remember you had some issues with the soil at the beginning didn't you? I presume all the extra precautions were taken and the right compacting and engineering for slab, so what does the SS say? Re: KDR - Dale Alcock Eastern suburbs - Cabinets 254Jun 04, 2015 10:09 am Will be interesting to see what your site supervisor has to say regarding the cracking, are you having a building inspector go through at PCI? Re: KDR - Dale Alcock Eastern suburbs - Cabinets 255Jun 13, 2015 6:35 pm It's been a while since I've had time to update.... We've been really busy getting ready to sell our current house and have been dealing with real estate agents which has been a massive PIA. Being asked what we think we should sell it for and how are amazing questions from so called professionals. Trees, yes we had problems with the slab that we were told are fine. Compaction was fine and there were extra precautions taken with the walls. Site supervisor wasn't at all concerned with the cracks. Has said he'll fix them all before handover. Jellbell, we'll get an inspection done before handover. Given our issues, we'd be mad not too. The tiling has almost finished and appears ok - some border tiles were out of stock. It took a long time, but just part of the process. The electrician and the plumber were there today putting in the fittings. Some painting to go, the wardrobes and shower screens and we should be done. Still don't have a PCI date, but can't be too far away! What are you planning to have in displays. I also like your dropped section in your vanity. Did you end up staying with the polytec ravine surface for your doors is that in bathrooms and laundry? Was it a big upgrade from laminate? Hope Dealing with real estate agents isn't too painful.......and that your house sells for a great price! Re: KDR - Dale Alcock Eastern suburbs - Tiling 257Jun 13, 2015 9:45 pm We have missed you D_rail! Seems like you have had your hands full, fingers crossed selling your home all falls into place for you, it must be a hard decision to know who to go through! Everything is looking great!! Tiles look amazing, I especially love that recess in the shower that is genius! Wish I had of thought of that. Looking really good, I am sure you will get a PCI date really soon! Re: KDR - Dale Alcock Eastern suburbs - Tiling 258Jun 14, 2015 11:21 pm Your bathroom and ensuite look great, love the contrast. And your laundry looks lovely and big!! Can't wait to see more of the kitchen!! Keep those photos coming Re: KDR - Dale Alcock Eastern suburbs - Tiling 259Jun 19, 2015 11:31 pm bluesteel I love your display cabinets and you have loads of drawers! Thanks, we re did the kitchen in our current house with a large display cabinet. We have a China dinner set, some fancy wine glasses and the like on display. The polytec was included in the builders standard range, so no upgrade cost. I got the impression that the Polytec was cheaper for them. I've missed a lot on here and it's hard to keep up. Great to see your build progressing smoothly! The shower recess was a copy of the display. They had a pillar with stone cladding on it which looked great, but we didn't have the room for the pillar! Last year I had a gas leak at my house. 3 days later, I have about 1 sqm of my exposed aggregate paving broken up. I am not sure how to go about getting it repaired… 0 10415 After some ideas on making our patio kid friendly . Currently we have exposed aggregate. The patio faces west and is always in sun even though it has a shade directly… 0 3644 |
