Browse Forums Building A New House Re: I think this looks shocking ! - what do you think ? 21May 19, 2008 8:12 pm The 100mm architraves were requested in the planning stage before the design was complete and before contracts were signed. It's written and signed for in the contract, plus they've charged us. Not sure what you mean about the custom doors. As Ahuang mentioned, I'm thinking they would have to remove the doors, gyprock, architrave and timber frame then put it all back. Dont really care how they do it as long as they do it. Not interested in a credit or compensation- just want what we paid for. I should know shortly. The builder has granted us our wish. All doorways with this issue (seven) will be stripped back to frame & reframed ! One cannot be sorted as the kitchen fits around it (too long to explain), so we'll just have to wear that one. So, that's good news. They did however think we were overreacting & said that this is accepted by most people & is in fact in their showhome ! Well done Rikster!!!!! Hmm interesting that they mention that "IT IS ACCEPTED BY MOST PEOPLE". That to me seems that they are aware of the issue but have chosen not to address it! At the end of the day you're happy and that is all that counts!!! Well Done!!! Make sure you show us some pics (of course)? Re: I think this looks shocking ! - what do you think ? 27May 20, 2008 1:03 pm Rikster Hmm interesting that they mention that "IT IS ACCEPTED BY MOST PEOPLE". You should say to the builder that there is a problem and that it should be changed and that "it is accepted by most builders". Demolition August 2009, Construction Started September 2009, Completed December 2010 Re: I think this looks shocking ! - what do you think ? 28May 20, 2008 1:21 pm Agreed, good outcome - most builders would not accept that sort of work, especially if it was made so clear at the start.
This sort of thing occurs when the supervision of the business is disconnected from the sales end of the business and there is nobody to join the dots in between. Either that or nobody read the specifications - and that wouldn't be the first time! Builders are people too.... Re: I think this looks shocking ! - what do you think ? 29May 22, 2008 1:48 pm Excellent! Good to see it work out that way.
You can also tell them it's a wise move as there are hundreds of friends over the internet watching this. Good advertisement for them! Re: I think this looks shocking ! - what do you think ? 30May 22, 2008 2:31 pm My builder "forgot" to insulate 9 common walls. Only found out when I went up to the roof for something else. Double whammy was that they were already painited, so builder lost plenty in correcting. The most beautiful doors and furniture in the World Thank you. Do I use timber floorboards for stairs or do people use timber treads? Or is both the same? 6 7272 2 813 No. It's not original. Circa early to mid 90s would be my guess and maybe even as late as early 2000s 1 6632 |
