Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 08, 2014 3:52 pm Hi All, We are new to the forum and are looking to build with Dale Alcock or Aveling. I know it has been asked before but would really like to know peoples experiences with either company. We are building on the north coast of WA (Alkimos) Thanks Re: New home build with Dale Alcock or Aveling? 2Feb 08, 2014 4:24 pm Built with DAH and live next door to an Aveling build. I'd rather have the house next door, much better build quality and when I met the Aveling site super he actually seemed to take pride in his work whilst the individual DAH foisted onto us couldn't have cared less. Re: New home build with Dale Alcock or Aveling? 3Feb 08, 2014 11:39 pm DAH was our previous builder. Couldn't have been happier with quality and site super was excellent. No problems at any stage of build and we added many non standard features. Sorry, I guess this post will just confuse you after Althom's!! Re: New home build with Dale Alcock or Aveling? 4Feb 09, 2014 2:03 am I'm building with Aveling at the moment. I personally haven't had too many problems. Some things seem to take forever but then the next thing seems to happen so quick. Quality wise I haven't come across any issues yet, but it's still early days! It's all about the particular site super you get and the trades that pitch up on the day.You won't have a choice in this so really it comes down to what you can get for your $. I know that the Aveling house next door cost about $40k less than our DAH build so even if it was the same lousy quality as ours it would still be a better deal. In any case make sure you get an independent inspector involved and make sure he is willing to be very hard on your builder and to make them answerable to you. Remember the builder is there to maximise their profit and your needs come a long way down their list. Re: New home build with Dale Alcock or Aveling? 6Feb 09, 2014 3:20 pm Building with Dale Alcock and about 2 weeks from PCI. Our whole experience has been 99.99% positive. We have had some bumps along the way but not once did I not trust that they would make good. In my experience they really care about their reputation and will do as much as they can to keep their customer happy. Our SS has been fantastic and cannot speak highly enough about our CLO. We are north of the river too so there is the chance you would have the same SS as I know he travels up that way. Which design are you looking at building? Good luck with your decision Re: New home build with Dale Alcock or Aveling? 7Feb 09, 2014 6:51 pm builders are a mixed bag! just keep on top of them email them call them. Be nice to them because they are people too. The plan is to demolisgh the home, earthworks to prepare for slab, and then removal of existing wall for a new one. Requires a DA unfortunatley as the new wall will be… 6 21654 If you are in Victoria you have a statutory right to your own building inspector regardless of builder's consent. No negotiations are required. However the builder will… 1 1408 Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 8 2223 |
