Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 06, 2014 1:18 pm Hi all My partner and I have purchased a sloping block of land (+/- 3.5m slope on a 25 square building area). Background: We were told by a volume builder that they could build on this land with their flat slab, by performing a 1.8m cut and a 1.7m fill. What they did not include in their quote (unbeknownst to us until I queried it at a much later stage) was the cost of the retaining walls, which based on further investigation would cost an exorbitant amount with such a cut. The cut would obviously also take away a lot of our elevation. As it is our first home, we have a very tight budget and I was hoping for any advise regarding the following: - Recommended and affordable sloping block builders in Queensland? Has anyone used GJ Gardner SE Queensland / Gold Coast? - With the structure of the house obviously being of utmost importance, what inclusions could be left for a later stage when the budget permits (i.e. aircons and outside render)? Any advice / recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time. M Re: Gold Coast - Building on a sloping block 2Feb 10, 2014 11:29 am We are using a Gold Coast builder that has good expertise in sloping blocks. Im very happy with the price - was cheaper that volume builders, and we used our own custom design. They are House and Land Design. They have been very helpful with ways to save money - eg render and cabinetry. I'll PM their details. Give Jonathan a call. Tell him you know me. He is in my opinion the best surveyor I have ever worked with. Just shoot out some emails to volume builders in… 3 14166 Howdy all. I am looking for feedback on what people would do to maximise and make an area as flat as possible. First, out the front of the house is a sloping hill, pretty… 0 14354 |
