Hi everyone,
Long time lurker. We are building in Caversham with Aveling. Our slab finished November 05 - 2013. They started the brickwork on January 05.
The brickwork is still being completed and doesn't look like it will be finished for another two weeks. Very slow.
The main problem I have is the bricklayers have not put in spacer biscuits or tape to join the cavity insulation on the entire house. From my point of view I now have cavity insulation that just doesn't work properly. The insulation butts up against the face brick continually with no air gap. All the internal walls are now done and given it's taken so long I'm not sure what to do.
We paid $2-3k to upgrade to Kingspan Permicav. The instructions for installing it are here:

Aveling bleat on about how they only use the best bricklayers but I can't see how they have ignored spending $50 on tape and spacers unless they assumed we weren't going to check these things. I've spoken to our CLO who has been good and they think it has been done in places but I have been onsite everyday looking after work and I have not seen any tape or spacers used anywhere.
They said they might demolish some of the internal walls to put in the spacers and tape but I'm not sure I believe that. I'm rather disappointed that they would ignore this when it costs so little time and effort.
I would appreciate some opinions on how to proceed?
Thanks.
