Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 05, 2014 6:56 am So, we're another pair of sheep (lol) and decided to build our dream home as the housing market in Newcastle has a lot of very generic or hugely overpriced places for sale. Last month or so has been house after house of beds on top of each other, and open plan living areas next to each other. http://rawsonhomes.net.au/homes/seaview/floorplans We put the land on hold yesterday while rawson gave us a budgetary quote and we have a meeting with them on Saturday to discuss it in more detail. Boy, this is definitely not a cheap exercise. lol. Land at Fletcher (The Outlook) is $250K, Seaview 36 built on that block is $390K and we all know $50K disappears once you start looking at the upgrade/options list. lol. Definitely lots of reading around here, which I've already been through some, and will have a great list of questions for the builder. I don't have ant concerns with Rawson at the moment, but my main concern is over captialising. At $690K plus a bit extra once we move it, $700K is definitely at the top end of the market where we're building, so we're concerned about LMI even though we'll have about $230K deposit from the sale of my existing house. Would love to hear stories about your Rawson homes, and bank valuations wrt LMI/LVR Re: Building : Seaview 36 with Rawson Homes 2Feb 05, 2014 12:20 pm Hi, we just finished building the Seaview 36 (handover was Oct last year) and love our new house!
