Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 31, 2014 11:19 pm Hello all,
Since it appears that just about everyone who is currently building with Homegroup WA has their own thread I figured its about time we did too. We are building on just over an acre just north of Bunbury and have just signed contracts. We have colour appointment in a fortnight but as yet no idea when prestart is. This is our 5th build in 12 years - CRAZY I know!! This will also be our 3rd build with HGWA (or Scott Park homes) and as usual they have been fabulous, especially our sales rep who should have run for the hills when he seen us come back after last time. Hopefully our plans actually work, unfortunately these are not the right up to date ones as our ensuite has changed a bit as well as the pantry has been extended into the nook that was going to be a bar - but we don't drink much so seemed like a waste. Also the recess in the main living area has been extended the whole length of the wall as I was worried the living area was a little squishy. The area outside the dining room is where we are hoping to put a plunge pool - we are just waiting on a few companies to get back to us about the pool but it being the busy season it seems I might be waiting a while! Asha Re: ASHA'S HGWA BUILD LESCHENAULT 2Feb 01, 2014 9:36 am Good luck. Its a fun - if not stressful - time ... Re: ASHA'S HGWA BUILD LESCHENAULT 4Feb 01, 2014 12:40 pm Oh wow .... that is one huge alfresco! Love the zoning of the house to, well balanced. Is that a rendered brick wall across the front, from side of house to boundary?? That's what we have done too ... much easier to get them to do it and then it all ties in perfectly. Re: ASHA'S HGWA BUILD LESCHENAULT 5Feb 01, 2014 1:06 pm Yes it is Marcia .. The rendered wall was surprisingly inexpensive. The zoning was pretty much dictated to us by the block as we have north to the front of the block - not ideal. We also have two young boys and I wanted their rooms nice n close tho I'm sure I'll change my mind about that when they are older. Re: ASHA'S HGWA BUILD LESCHENAULT 6Feb 01, 2014 1:48 pm it looks great! I think I can see where you are putting your pool, I love it when a house is design around the pool. when you do it right like you it really does add $$$$$ to the house. you are going to have a great lifestyle!! wow you must be very experience with building Re: ASHA'S HGWA BUILD LESCHENAULT 7Feb 01, 2014 2:56 pm We have about 12m of rendered wall and yep, we were surprised at how inexpensive it was too! Re: ASHA'S HGWA BUILD LESCHENAULT 8Feb 01, 2014 8:12 pm awesome plan Asha cannot wait to see your build progress - nice to see another SW local too Re: ASHA'S HGWA BUILD LESCHENAULT 9Feb 02, 2014 12:07 am 2-cupcakes-pls it looks great! We cant wait for the pool, we had one a few houses ago and always intended to at the last but never got around to it therefore this time it is one of the first things to get done - especially as I have said that this is the last time we are building (even though Ive said that every other time too) we have got to get it right. Re: ASHA'S HGWA BUILD LESCHENAULT 11Feb 02, 2014 1:05 am Wow asha 5 builds in 12 years...you are very very brave The plans look great, love how you have maximised the space! Fingers crossed this one will be your forever home! Hi Dee, I don't know about brave - thinking more like nuts!! Am thinking that now as I type this sitting in a crappy rental (ok its not so bad but its not mine) especially when the house we just sold looked like this Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Why are we doing this ??? Oh that's right hubby wants a bigger shed Re: ASHA'S HGWA BUILD LESCHENAULT 13Feb 02, 2014 2:16 am was your old house is Wellar Loop Leschenault?? I was absolutely in love with that and wanted it haha!!! Re: ASHA'S HGWA BUILD LESCHENAULT 14Feb 02, 2014 2:23 am haha it certainly was, I am missing it so much already but we are having quite a lot of the finishes the same except the Jasper (poo brown) roof, thinking more greys this time like the new colorbond Basalt or something - I keep changing my mind.
Re: ASHA'S HGWA BUILD LESCHENAULT 15Feb 02, 2014 2:27 am crazy loved the marri flooring in that house was beautiful!! Cannot wait to see your new build even more now if your last one is anything to go by it is going to be absolutely AMAZING! All the choices for colours do your head in hey, specially when you have to visualise it but you should be an absolute pro at it now doing it so much I do know I want the darkest colorbond for the roof (think it is called Monument). The marri was beautiful til the dishwasher leaked and we had to have the WHOLE house resanded and refinished which meant moving out for a bit. It was out of all the flooring we've had the best to look after and keep clean even with two little boys. Hubby wants it again but its crazy expensive especially since we got such a good deal on it last time and that guy no longer does them I am trying to convince him to go for the Australiana bamboo by arc cos its a third of the price. We will see who wins this battle. Re: colours - I am sooo undecided, I think the more times you do this the more undecided you get. HGWA let me change my kitchen colours three times on the last house during the build, I confused them so much that the wrong colour kitchen got delivered and had to be remade!! I also want a dark roof, but since this is meant to be the final build im a bit worried about it fading. Every time I drive past Mindalong Heights I see this house that has a pale pale pink roof that I remember being red. Re: ASHA'S HGWA BUILD LESCHENAULT 17Feb 02, 2014 10:37 am Oh wow asha your last house is just beautifullll!!!! If that's anything to go by then your new one will be amazing! Although glad to hear even a seasoned pro like yourself second guesses colour choices...it is SO hard to know if it is all going to turn out as beautiful as it looks when you picture it in your head. I think this is what I'm most nervous about! Re: ASHA'S HGWA BUILD LESCHENAULT 18Mar 04, 2014 6:00 pm asha Thought that I would also update what our change/upgrade prices were.
