Browse Forums Building A New House Re: CH - Lennox - PCI & Handover Booked in for July!!! 221Jul 07, 2014 11:33 am Hi JMCL $60k for siteworks??? WOW! I think ours was around $9k, but we built on flat sandy site, with no issues and its only 630sqm. You building on an acreage plot? Any plans yet?? Can't wait to see what you've done to the design! For the painting, I just meant the painting of the door frames and internal doors, we have to paint all the walls ourselves as well. And I completely know what you mean about stone bench tops, I would definitely do it now as I wouldn't want any tiling or appliances to get damaged after handover if I got the benches done later. We paid around $4k extra for stone in the en-suite, laundry and pantry so sounds like the prices have really increased. We were lucky and got the offer of raised ceilings and stone in the kitchen for just under $2k when we originally signed up, then just added stone to the other rooms and raised all the ceilings in the other rooms to 31c as well. The Brando display is pretty good to look around (glad you like it Bingo18) but it has no extra doors so all the living areas are open and there are no doors on the WIR or en-suite which really bugs me, I suppose it makes the house feel bigger which is good for sales Did anyone notice how low the ceilings felt in the show home? Glad we went for the 31c everywhere now. Most of the main floor tiling has been done with just the tiles that need to be cut around the edges to be added. Picture time! I thought you had the painting included, apparently it usually costs Celebratuons $12,000 to paint a Lennox but they could only charge $6000 so they were losing lots of ,oney. I'm not getting the stone in the bathrooms or laundry and it was quoted the same as yours and I thought it's not a necessity? I added 6 metres of bench top so the price I said earlier is only for the kitchen? Still undecided about what to do? All of our inside ceilings are raised to 30C and apparently having the higher height is better for the izone to flow through the house? I thought it would cost more for heating but apparently it doesn't and intact costs less? You probably know about that the me? How low were the ceilings in the Brando display, I keep the checking the celebrations web page for pictures but they still haven't loaded them yet unless they did it today? I can't wait to see a lennox in person Re: CH - Lennox - PCI & Handover Booked in for July!!! 225Jul 07, 2014 9:56 pm Looking good mate. Following your build. Re: CH - Lennox - PCI & Handover Booked in for July!!! 226Jul 08, 2014 11:03 am Hi JCML Nah, we decided to paint the walls ourselves. CH paint the internal ceilings, coving, door frames and doors, they also paint some of the carpentry (ie: pantry shelves trim). We were quoted $5k for internal painting but were told it would only be one colour throughout so not what we wanted really. Fingers crossed you get some cash back from site works, we got a couple of $k back. Apparently most builders quote over what the site works will be so you often get a refund - but don't quote me on that though! Well bench tops in stone is a big decision, but it is down to personal preference. Look out for any stone bench tops 3m or bigger in length as you will probably end up with a join in the stone which can look awful if not done properly. Hadn't thought about the benefits of high ceilings for air con, I suppose the air has more space to blow around but as it is a bigger house with bigger windows etc I would have thought it would cost more with higher ceilings to run. . . .just a guess though. I was more concerned about the control panel looking good and being able to control the temperature from my iphone! ha ha! I would reckon the Brando ceilings are 28c as that seems to be the standard. mixz0r - loving the design, someone is building that design on the end of our street as well, they are nearly at lock up. Think they are putting those bi-fold windows from the kitchen into the alfresco, and love how the games room flows onto the main living area. It makes the rooms look so much bigger! Also, all the shower frames have arrived with glass and the mirrors. We have had the fresh sand laid out for the driveway and alfresco etc. Also there was a cleaner at the house today so got a chance to look in and see where things were up to. Apparently driveway is booked in for next week, along with carpets and blinds. Not much left to do . . . although I did notice they haven't replaced the standard smoke alarms with the slimline ones we paid for! It's looking great and the tiles look awesome. Our Build - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=69989 Re: CH - Lennox - PCI & Handover Booked in for July!!! 230Jul 10, 2014 10:23 pm Awesome! We get our keys tomorrow For your peace of mind, at pre-handover (you haven't had that yet right?) they do make a formal signed document that outlines everything to be fixed/changed between handover. So you will have a formal list that is worked on in that time and is signed by the site supervisor Re: CH - Lennox - PCI & Handover Booked in for July!!! 231Jul 11, 2014 6:31 pm House is looking great! Tiles are a great choice and look really good I don't feel so bad about the painting now knowing they would have only done it in 1 colour? Not long to go now and you'll be living in your dream home, yayyyy! Re: CH - Lennox - PCI & Handover Booked in for July!!! 232Jul 12, 2014 10:13 pm Thanks everyone! How was your first night in the new house xfitzyx??? Party time?? So had a quick look at the house today and nearly everything is finished, its had the first clean and all the crap has been taken off the windows (shiny windows makes a house look very different! ) and the flyscreens are in. All the doorhandles are on and the glass has been installed in the bathrooms. I think that all that is left to do is carpet, blinds, a little bit of painting and the block paving. Fingers crossed its all ready for PCI on Thursday! Picture time! Re: Celebration Homes - Lennox - KEYS NEXT WEEK!!! 236Jul 17, 2014 10:09 pm Thanks mrsingh - turns out your site supervisor is the same as ours (Luke) and he is amazing, we have had ZERO problems since we started building and could not be happier with the quality of workmanship on the house. So PCI happened today, and lets just say I am super happy!!! We were originally told keys maybe towards the middle of August but more likely towards the end of August, then told maybe end of July and at PCI today we are now told we can have keys by the end of next week! So our SS (Luke) spent over an hour with us today going over the house. This guy went as far as to talk us through changing the light globes in the extractor fan!! Anyone else who gets him as their SS is very lucky! He had been so good at checking our house before PCI that our list of issues consisted of - - Some extra block paving to the front driveway (they didn't provide flared edges to the crossover as per the plan as they thought it looked better without them, but left the pavers in the garage in case we wanted them to come back out and add them in) - 2 tiny scratches to the inside of one of the pantry doors - A touch up to the white paint on the coving around the range hood - Two of the windows were a tiny bit wonky (awning windows to the front of the house) - there was nothing really wrong with them, just when you opened them, one side of the window opened a fraction quicker than the other. And then he says "keys on the 25th July OK for you?" OMG! All we have to do is ring the office tomorrow and book in a time to go pick them up! So picture time! Front of house - glazing bars have been added to the windows, blinds are in and the pavers are done Bedroom 2 with carpets and blinds Rear hallway WIL Bathroom Glazed door from family room into games room Alfresco Family/Kitchen/Diner Blinds on family room patio door Kitchen - WOW! Pantry Laundry - very dark but look at the shine on those cupboard doors! He is dame good if you need them let me know Re: Celebration Homes - Lennox - KEYS NEXT WEEK!!! 239Jul 25, 2014 9:21 am Thanks mrsingh, we have an electrcian who has got us a really good deal on LED lights through one of his suppliers, we are paying around $25 per light (they are top of the range, wide angle light, warm colour, with a diffuser) and then if we mark out on the ceiling where we want them to go he will come out and fit them. We have to pay his standard hourly fee for fitting but all up 30 down lights should cost around $1700. CH were quoting $7k+ for the same thing!! Just ordered the bins from the council (theres another $300+ gone!) and just waiting on the post box and side gates to get installed. Aussieclothesline.com.au have some fantastic postboxes, and they come and install them for you and they can even make up custom face plates with the address on as well. So key pickup in less than 6 hours! Wish me luck everyone!
