Browse Forums Building A New House Re: In-Vogue Build at Champion Lakes (WA) 101Nov 19, 2014 10:11 pm We have a roof on the bottom storey and the plaster is due within the next week. Also, looks like we'll get the pool in before handover. So that's great news Our Family Home Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=69221 Our Investment Build Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=69588 Re: In-Vogue Build at Champion Lakes (WA) 102Dec 09, 2014 7:09 pm Looking awesome Catherine!! (Justin here ) Re: In-Vogue Build at Champion Lakes (WA) 103Dec 15, 2014 10:12 pm Waves at Justin Finally catching up on the foum posts. So, an update on our build: * Even though our slab was down 11 months ago, we are not going to have lock-up before Christmas. At this point, we are still waiting on ceilings and plaster for our bottom storey. * People are starting to ask if there is something wrong with our build because we were the first slab down in our row of houses (by a few months) and other people have already moved in. Even the people with the same builder have moved in. So, bottom line, I'm not a happy little camper at the moment. Things are moving very slowly. Even though the build quality is good, we may surpass our build deadline. I wish they would hurry up. On a happier note, I'm starting to get furnishings organised. Picked up a 50" TV for each room for $399 each. The chairs I want from Ikea are on special this month (yay!). I'm having a little debate about whether I buy the dishdraws or save some money and go with a normal dishwasher. I'm really keen on having dishdraws Our Family Home Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=69221 Our Investment Build Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=69588 Re: In-Vogue Build at Champion Lakes (WA) 104Dec 16, 2014 10:19 am engs Waves at Justin Finally catching up on the foum posts. You got a bargain for your TV's so why not splurge on something you really really want!! Re: In-Vogue Build at Champion Lakes (WA) 105Dec 17, 2014 7:33 am Think I just might still get them... mind you, carpet has come in $500 over budget. I'll wait till after Christmas and see if I can pick them up on sale. However, I have rarely seen them on sale, so not sure if that will make a difference. Still, worth a try Our Family Home Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=69221 Our Investment Build Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=69588 Re: In-Vogue Build at Champion Lakes (WA) 106Dec 17, 2014 2:58 pm I too want dishdraws, i'm looking at $1000+ hey?? Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 Re: In-Vogue Build at Champion Lakes (WA) 107Jan 30, 2015 7:58 am It's been over a month since I posted but things are finally really starting to move on the property. @archetto we ended up buying the dishdrawers ($1349 for stainless steel look but white was about $100 cheaper). Two weeks ago, we reached lock-up. As you can see, it has been pretty slow going up to this point. Now we are starting to get a few things done each week. I guess the builder's end date is looming so they are keen on getting this build off their books. Within two weeks we've had painting of the ceiling and doors, and the kitchen put in. You can't really see the warmth of the Ebony Macassar, but I'm very happy with the choice: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ In addition, we've had to change our splash back choice as the tiles we selected 15 months ago are no longer available (what a surprise...). Anyway, I saw this as an opportunity to get something else. I wasn't that happy with my first choice, so here I was, ready to make a bold new choice. Well, I got to the tile shop and couldn't find anything I was even remotely happy with. I had thought I may take this opportunity to go with a subway tile splash back but I just couldn't get that in an off-white. The guy at the tiling shop suggested I go to one of the other tile shops on my builder's list. There happened to be one just down the road so I thought I'd give them a try. After 30 minutes of trying every weird and wonderful combination, I finally realised I had been trying to make selections with the wrong Essastone sample! Well, changing to the right one helped (still didn't give me subway tiles in off-white though). Here is the end choice: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ So, tilers start tomorrow and we will hopefully see electricals in soon and the bottom front render completed (yes, the house still looks like the last picture with brick exposed at the bottom). Lots of lovely texture. viewtopic.php?t=72683 Re: In-Vogue Build at Champion Lakes (WA) 109Jan 30, 2015 11:14 am I love it too! And it was a 1/3 of the price of the other one which I didn't really like that much. Looks great seeing your kitchen in. Between lock up and now they have done a lot. Re: In-Vogue Build at Champion Lakes (WA) 111Mar 15, 2015 1:29 pm Hi Catherine, Just wondering how it is all going as you haven't posted for ages!!?? I'm not sure if we are still a month behind you as lots have had to be fixed and we have had everything in a different order to you our front got completely rendered and painted with down pipes etc before lock up. Our house is at lock up with ceiling up and painted, kitchen built and all tiles are in and garage slab. But they are already going back and fixing so much weare now on building supervisor number 6!! 3 of these we got fired!! There is still a lot to do and I think it will be 6 weeks until it's done! Well until we inspect it!! Yours is looking really good!! I'm guessing you must be almost in!! Amy Re: In-Vogue Build at Champion Lakes (WA) 112Apr 29, 2015 6:56 am Hi Amy, Sorry, I am frustrated with my builder so thought best not say anything in a public forum. We haven't received handover nor do we have a date for hand over. Contract end date has been and gone. Hope your build is going better Cheers, Catherine Our Family Home Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=69221 Our Investment Build Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=69588 Re: In-Vogue Build at Champion Lakes (WA) 113Apr 29, 2015 1:22 pm No good Engs! How long since slab down? Hope you're at least close with no much left to do. We are also going to go with the dishdrawers Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 Re: In-Vogue Build at Champion Lakes (WA) 114Apr 29, 2015 7:36 pm Chin up...we know how you feel...I think I was being optimistic when I said two months! I would say we would be lucky to be in there by July!! We never got a finish date just got told approx a year from earthworks it's now been 14month and no information on completion date!! So I know how you feel...we have ended up being on site 2-3 times a week supervising which is a shame as we are ao busy! We are really disappointed with the company and hope they can turn it around. Is there a reason for the hold up?? Re: In-Vogue Build at Champion Lakes (WA) 115May 01, 2015 10:10 pm Thanks archetto - dishdrawers are a popular choice In regards, to our build, the slab went down in January 2014. It's a long process. Amyn - we have had a professional building inspector and they are now trying to decide what to do based on his report (there was non compliances). We are now looking at June for our earliest move in date. That was far worse than our "worse case scenario date" (apart from never getting hand-over). I hope yours goes better Thanks both for the messages Our Family Home Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=69221 Our Investment Build Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=69588 Re: In-Vogue Build at Champion Lakes (WA) 116May 01, 2015 10:12 pm hope it's resolved quickly for you! Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 Re: In-Vogue Build at Champion Lakes (WA) 117Jun 15, 2015 4:02 pm Still waiting for a reply to the inspection report. After several follow ups we only have a written confirmation of the date it was received, but no actual reply to it nor a date to have the BCA non compliance fixed. Next week will be 2 months since the report was given to them. We just returned from our 3 week 'moved into the new house holiday' on Friday and it does not appear that many things have been done, for example the back door handle is still broken and being held shut by a wooden plank which has been the case since the door was installed. I guess we just keep waiting until we get a formal reply. Re: In-Vogue Build at Champion Lakes (WA) 118Jun 16, 2015 1:22 am That sounds terrible enkayz. Probably the last thing you want to do, but a phone call at this stage wouldn't be out of line. Re: In-Vogue Build at Champion Lakes (WA) 119Jun 18, 2015 1:22 pm After a phone call to the person who was meant to respond to our email, we'll be meeting with them on site today. Hopefully we will see some action after that - we're really very keen to move into the new house! Re: In-Vogue Build at Champion Lakes (WA) 120Jun 18, 2015 1:33 pm Good luck! Can't believe you still haven't moved in Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 8 2234 thank you! do we need to get this or our builder before we commence new build on the block? 2 4419 Hi, did you get any money from insurance? if you did, does it match what you've already paid the builders? 3 5008 |
