Browse Forums Building A New House Re: First Build in Jane Brook with Home Group WA 21Mar 15, 2014 1:31 am Best of luck for Monday! Cant wait to hear all about it! Re: First Build in Jane Brook with Home Group WA 22Mar 17, 2014 8:17 pm What a busy but great day!! We started the meeting at 9.30 and it went until 3.00 with lunch included. It was pretty much full steam ahead the whole time which was great but be prepared for it. We had a few changes in the contract already but here is a cost list of the other changes we made on the day: Feature tiles (7 pieces each in bathroom/ensuite) : $98 Delete mirrors in bathroom/ensuite: -$280 (we will add shaver cabinets after handover) Bathtub upgraded from 1525mm to 1675mm: $16 All the taps came in at reasonable prices - haven't included since the list is huge. If you want any specifics you can ask We worked ours around the Piatto range mainly. If you're after a fancy shower head look at Reece - We got the Nikkles Quarte 300 LED Shower Head which came in well under RRP! Woohooo!! One bank of three drawers to vanity in ensuite $257 Bulkhead in Kitchen to suit overhead cupboards: $863 Banks of three drawers 900mm (x2) to either side of stove: $1032 Microwave recess and powerpoint: $485 Waterfall edges to island bench: $2,766 (we extended our bench earlier) Garage door from Daintree Collection: $630 Bathroom 3 in 1 light: $401 Mitred tile edges: $306 Treated Pine in roof structure: $971 Alfresco plasterboard ceiling: $348 Extra door to passageway: $353 Front door Surian Cedar Mandalay and timber frame: $1107 (HGWA are staining darker to match the Jarrah look garage door) Front render sand finish painted: $752 Door locks on handles: $15 each Electrical - We did a smart wiring package which included heaps! So look into that if you are a tech kind of person - my other half was.. lucky he knows what it all means! We also added in a lot of power points and lights which came to $1,740. All up the subtotal was $13,533. We never intended to spend that much and a lot of more costly items were only 'maybe' items but because we had a credit overall on the house we decided to go for it and it only cost us $633 'out of pocket' so to speak... we will keep telling ourselves that too hahaha. Overall we had a great experience with our prestart consultant and we met our new contract liaison as well who was lovely She said it should only be a couple of weeks with the finalizing since the company was doing really well with timing at the moment.. which sounded amazing!!!! Also saw our wonderful consult and broker which was nice. So excited that things are starting to move along!! Re: First Build in Jane Brook with Home Group WA 23Mar 19, 2014 11:26 am Congrats!! Glad to hear it went so smoothly, I think you guys did a great job from your list! We have chosen the same shower head as well!! Can't wait to light that baby up! Re: First Build in Jane Brook with Home Group WA 25Mar 25, 2014 12:38 am Posting to follow your build. Sounds like you got a great deal. Re: First Build in Jane Brook with Home Group WA 26Mar 25, 2014 8:48 am Awesome, it's great to see that you had a good prestart. Sorry about the late reply. The shower head sounds awesome! We didn't ask about upgrade cost for them, wish we had now. Re: First Build in Jane Brook with Home Group WA 27May 23, 2014 3:54 pm After some serious envy and a lot time waiting for documents etc to be ready we FINALLY have a date for the earthworks and slab! So that means I can start getting excited about everything again!! Woohoo!!! Earthworks should start next Friday and the slab should go down within a week after that.... so that pretty much means two weeks!!!!!! The other half is still skeptical - says he'll believe when he sees it lol! It has been really hard to visit the block and seeing a lot of other houses going up - so nice to finally have a date set. I'll finally put up some pictures etc to give you all an idea of what it (hopefully) will look like! Re: First Build in Jane Brook with Home Group WA 28May 23, 2014 5:19 pm That's awesome news, so exciting.
