Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 30, 2014 12:14 am Hi, our kitchen will be at 31c (part of promo) but since we plan on putting o/head cupboards, we're planning to put a bulk head or lower the ceiling at the kitchen to 28c. The entry and hall way leading to the kitchen will be 28c. My question is, is it right to get charged a cost if we will have the kitchen back to 28c? Shouldn't we be getting a credit instead of an extra charge considering that 31c is actually an upgrade. How much in your build do bulk head cost to be added? Thanks! It's an added cost due to more framing/plaster. Think of it this way; the extra courses are throughout the entire home, front to back. The bricks, roof pitch and framing are all at that height (materials expense) Bringing a bulkhead in the kitchen doesn't make any of those materials disappear, in fact, more framing, gyprock and edging finish are required. Re: Kitchen bulkhead or ceiling to 28c from 31c (extra cost? 3Jan 30, 2014 8:09 am Thanks for replying. The 31c will only be at the living, dining and kitchen area. All others will be at 28c. Since the garage will be at 28c and it is adjacent to the kitchen, isn't it possible to continue the 28c up to the kitchen? Re: Kitchen bulkhead or ceiling to 28c from 31c (extra cost? 4Jan 30, 2014 8:33 am We had a similar situation. ..we either paid for a 28c bulkhead over the kitchen or paid for it to be 31c. We found it absurd we had to pay either way and it was thousands either way! I love having our dropped 28c ceiling over the whole kitchen surrounded by the 31c in the living/dining. Very glad we did that instead of 31c. Once you see the frame work that goes into the bulkhead you will understand the cost though. There's nowhere to turn to without shelling out $$$. Can you please PM me how much it cost you to drop back to 28c the kitchen ceiling? Thanks. What is that product they have used? Also, do they know what is causing it and why won't they take down the current sheets? 2 523 How do you remove one of these ceiling air con vents? And is it possible to disconnect the duct joined to the vent from inside the house, without going into the roof cavity? 0 6159 |
