Hope those who have contracted an electrician or are themselves an electrical tradie can help. 1. Downlights - Replace existing bayonet point with a 92mm cutout for flex and plug downlight. Installation of GPO is required. 2. Ceiling light - Replace existing bayonet point with oyster or pendant light fitting. 3. Outdoor - Install outdoor wall lights. 4. Most cookie cutter builders won't let you bring in your own trades until after handover. If you have any owner builders close by, I'm sure they'd appreciate the donations of the old batten holders and the like, so they can save a few bucks on their own builds. Re: Electrical installation cost 3Jan 20, 2014 11:47 am Yeah - we had wiring done and everything ready to go - then the builder advised our electrician when to come and do his thing. Apparently it saves the mark-up etc. It is roughly one hour of work to retrofit, so installing from scratch should be even less than that.
