Can't believe you haven't moved in yet - is that how you are planning on keeping it clean Congrats on finally getting your keys though and hope you get moved in soon Re: Commodore Homes, Alkimos Beach - KEYS! - Pics! 863Aug 24, 2015 11:03 pm Haha sinurt I was wondering the same thing! Re: Commodore Homes, Alkimos Beach - KEYS! - Pics! 864Aug 25, 2015 3:02 pm Thanks archetto! Will keep everyone updated. And yeah definitely loving the turnkey set up. What will you need to do post handover? Haha sinurt and Mal you discovered my secret! It works a treat! If no one is ever there it can't get dirty But yes living alone does have its perks in terms of the place staying clean Thanks for the kind words! First Build, Commodore Homes, Alkimos Beach. Experimented and added some red in the ways of cushions, coasters and tea towels. Thinking I'll chase more of a deep red/maroon though so it's not so harsh. As contemporary as it is I still want it to feel homely, which in all honestly I think is lacking a little at the moment. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ New TV unit. Finding a nice, black unit to fit a 1500 recess was near impossible so when I spotted this at Harvey Norman on Saturday for $300 I was all over it. Being flat packed however made assembling it almost as big a task as finding a nice unit in the first place. 60 screws and no drill meant it was all done by hand haha. Came up alright: (TV eventually will be wall mounted) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And some dark red in the ensuite: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ First Build, Commodore Homes, Alkimos Beach. Looking good! As for what I need to do...what don't we need to do? We are painting it ourselves (I've never painted a room let alone a whole house...eek), installing the bamboo ourselves (like...literally using our own hands lol), carpet is being installed (by someone else phew!), we are installing our blinds ourselves including the plantation shutters, installing our own colourbond fence with the help of some friends, my partner is building the shed himself too with some mates, installing our own decking, having lights installed, ummm all the landscaping, soakwells......the list seems never ending. I'm hoping my partner will agree to having a soakwell company do them, have just requested a quote, that will be one less thing and means I don't need to help dig big holes Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 Re: Commodore Homes, Alkimos Beach - KEYS! - Pics! 867Aug 26, 2015 12:07 am To make it look more homely, you could try adding some pot plants, or some other textured things like big fluffy cushions or throw rug. Possibly some artwork? Re: Commodore Homes, Alkimos Beach - KEYS! - Pics! 868Aug 26, 2015 1:12 am The ensuite!! well done bs12!! And if you want to try and achieve to decorate your home try getting inspiration from pinterest or houzz. I'm hoping my partner will agree to having a soakwell company do them, have just requested a quote, that will be one less thing and means I don't need to help dig big holes Haha its all in the finer details archetto Its the one I use anyway so the fact that its red is an added bonus I know the budget can only stretch so far, but consider looking into having it painted professionally. Sure its a big lump of money but the relief you feel knowing you don't have to do it yourself and that you can just move furniture in is a big weight off the shoulders in my opinion and will also get you settled in a lot quicker. It may mean however that the fancy bed you want might have to wait even longer... I remember you were doing bamboo floors but must have missed the part about laying it yourselves! That will be a fun task, especially seeing it all come together Haha but yes the list never seems to end, and of course a man builds his own shed! I have a friend who does soakwells, they are called Westoz Soakwells, found on Facebook. Not sure if you wanted a second quote or not. First Build, Commodore Homes, Alkimos Beach. And wash your mouth out...I'm ordering my bed this weekend I don't think laying the bamboo will be fun at all haha I think I'll leave the house until he gets it going as the first few rows are really hard and I know there will be a lot of colourful words coming out of his mouth....I'm safer shopping! Haha For art, look at united artworks, they have a massive range of canvases and wait until they have a 50% off sale which they do often, I paid $125 inc shipping for out 1m x 70cm print. They have a sister site too I think it is Canvas Workshop, use code Welcome25 for $25 off too. Otherwise instagram has loads of great little artists starting out who do amazing pieces, there are a few I want! I'm not really into 'art' art if that makes sense but I do like abstract with lots of colours, I would pick something that mixes the colours in your room with your feature colour being the most dominant. Temple and webster has good art come up sometimes too. Depends how green-thumbed you are I'd start with either a fake (some of them can look good!) Or something low-maintenance. My first indoor plant was a ficus benjamina (weeping fig) that I think I got from Woolies, and I put it in a self-watering pot. Really easy to care for. You could google around for low maintenance plants if you don't know where to start.
