Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 13, 2014 11:19 am Any opinions? The pearl white just seems such a BRIGHT white and I think can look a little plasticky. I'm having a surfmist garage and the off white sample actually seemed to match surfmist pretty well. But our interior design consultant lady talked me out of it, she just said that pearl white looks much better IRL.... Do you think off white would look not so nice from inside the house? We're having antique white USA walls... Hubby and I were out display homing (again) last weekend and saw a property with the Pearl White windows, we both commented how stark they looked. But I guess it’s all personal opinion really! I am not much of a “white” person anyway, I find it quite clinical. When picking neutrals I always seem to go for those that are slightly off from the bright whites. My dad used Surfmist windows & sliding doors for his shack on the river, but they aren’t available everywhere and through every window supplier, which is unfortunate because they are a really nice colour and look lovely. But again, it all comes down to individual preference and opinion. Are you able to find out through the supplier if there are display homes using both? That way you can get a real look and see – those samples are terrible to work off. They will be installed in a couple of weeks so can post a pic for you. It really depends on the tones of your façade. We are having paperbark for the garage so it ties in nicely with that and our render (European stone) however if we chose surfmist for the garage I wouldn't probably have white birch as it can look a little "creamy" when next to surfmist. If you can get hold of surfmist for window frames as mentioned above then definitely keep it the same Re: Pearl white vs off white windows.. 4Jan 13, 2014 2:28 pm House up the road has stark white windows, looks dreadful - they almost look like they're glowing. We went with Surfmist windows & garage doors. I personally wouldn't have a Surfmist garage and white windows, I think it would look odd - I'd go with one or the other. Re: Pearl white vs off white windows.. 5Jan 13, 2014 2:29 pm We picked pearl white and surfmist garage as well. We were concerned about the starkness too but we have had Primrose forever and hated them they were impossible to match blinds to inside or out so anything that had the slightest inclination to look cream didn't get a look in. We did it to brighten the place up as we have a grey colourbond roof and so buying off the shelf blinds matching colours is easier. Keeping them clean (especially the sliding door tracks) concerns me though I couldn't attached the photo for some reason.
