Re: Sahara Q1 - Post handover journey 3182Jul 28, 2015 8:23 pm mirz Confused, we didn't upgrade insulation . I remember Henley upgraded ceiling to R5 and walls to R2.5 You mean at no extra cost ??? We have been upgraded for 2.5 HD for all external walls and 6.0 for ceiling insulations... By the sounds of it should be well worth the money spent...we haven't upgraded our heating unit though.. You got high definition insulation, that's gonna be awesome Re: Sahara Q1 - Post handover journey 3184Jul 28, 2015 9:11 pm I didn't know if that was even possible ? How come they didn't charge you for change in insulation due to energy requirements ? Don't even know what HD means in terms of insulation lol Build thread of our Monaco Lux Q1 - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76750 Update: Handover - 2 Sep Re: Sahara Q1 - Post handover journey 3185Jul 28, 2015 9:13 pm Great gas bill then, I just got ours for this 20 sq max rental and it was over $400 - I nearly fell off my chair! We have it on afternoons/night and turn it off around 11-12pm. Interesting, but good thing is you will enjoy cosy house without High bill in next winters. We run gas heating whole day but ours running on only 18 or max 19'c. I know someone who runs theirs on 24'c. During they day we run ground floor only, and in late afternoon upstairs only. Sahara Q1 - Post handover journey 3189Jul 28, 2015 9:19 pm We must be very lucky to escape that bill of insulation upgrade Sahara Q1 - Post handover journey 3190Jul 28, 2015 9:44 pm I had to pay for my upgraded insulation . Under energy requirements it is upgraded to 4.0 house and garage ceiling, and 2.0 for walls all for $410, and then under structural upgraded to 6.0 and 2.5 for the tidy sum is $1,136 for ceiling and no charge for walls... When they were installing them I tried to check which batts they were but could not tell. How do you know the difference - are they all the same colour? sassid ...building the Emporio with MainVue/Henley BLOG: http://thewaldorfproject.blogspot.com.au/ HOMEONE THREAD : https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75753 Re: Sahara Q1 - Post handover journey 3191Jul 28, 2015 9:49 pm Oh just remembered reasoning why we had to pay - builder pays as long as your house is orientated the correct way for best energy efficiency as they claim all their houses are 6 star energy efficient (based on best orientation) but because our block makes the house face the opposite to the best direction for energy efficiency the upgrades to meet 6 star requirements are to our cost as we have changed the orientation. I remember they asked to pay extra but then changed it to provision and lately no charge for upgraded insulation. Can't remember but someone mentioned that they had to pay extra for eaves to cover 6 star Energy rating. Re: Sahara Q1 - Post handover journey 3194Jul 28, 2015 10:55 pm I think eaves are standard on the emporio? If with eaves, first floor windows are usually placed right under the eaves, so no brickwork is needed above windows. Did you pay to get the brickwork above windows? We didn't pay anything extra for any in fils. They all are standards. Re: Sahara Q1 - Post handover journey 3197Jul 30, 2015 9:50 am Hi Mirz, built my own thread but not sure how to attach a signature so again posting in your thread. Yesterday we went to colour selections and were in for a surprise, all the colour cards gone and replaced with inspirational boards. We went prepared with Truffle scheme and were quite flustered to see the change. So we had to begin from scratch, selecting bricks and all. I wanted to ask re. the towers behind the island bench. I wanted one long tower and the rest in small cabinets, but was strictly advised against it by the colour consultant. So instead got all small cabinets. I went through your pages Mirz and found that your tower has also got all smaller cabinets. Should I insist on the one tall tower and the rest in small cabinets or will it look too ugly or is there any practical reason apart from being not symmetrical? I really wanted that tower to store the dinner sets. Will post our selections and activate my thread soon. Re: Sahara Q1 - Post handover journey 3198Jul 30, 2015 9:53 am Hi Neth04, can you explain what you meant by the change? Are the concept boards no longer offered and what about the inspirational boards, are they free or you have to upgrade for it? Second Build, this time with Carlisle 2016, can't wait! Are the concept boards no longer offered and what about the inspirational boards, are they free or you have to upgrade for it? Yes, the concept boards are not offered any more and the inspirational boards are kind of guidance, so have to upgrade. Nothing is given free there as in concept boards. As we are not going to render option, had to upgrade to Cat 3 bricks. Re: Sahara Q1 - Post handover journey 3200Jul 30, 2015 10:34 am Wow that's a big change. Did you get photo's of these 'inspiration' boards? When we went, they had the inspiration style boards near the Electrical Appointment section of Cosham, and the colour boards in the center. Have they moved them to here? That's a massive bummer, it made choices easy. Did they say why they no longer do them?
