Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Sahara Q1 - Backyard WIP 2388May 16, 2015 8:29 am macmaz Do you have to take permission from council to build verandah to the boundary? or neighbours? do you have gutters on them? That's correct, we obtained permission from neighbor even though they haven't built yet. Also developer approval and council permit is must have. It also required fire safety certificate, building close to boundary. This is to make sure in case of fire, it won't be hazard to neighboring property. Would you mind asking which house are you building? Re: Sahara Q1 - Backyard WIP 2389May 16, 2015 9:20 am Love it !!! May I ask how does it cost with them ??? I'm planning to get one of them installed post handover Build thread of our Monaco Lux Q1 - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76750 Update: Handover - 2 Sep Re: Sahara Q1 - Backyard WIP 2390May 16, 2015 9:30 am confused_fhb_2015 Love it !!! Re: Sahara Q1 - Backyard WIP 2391May 16, 2015 7:16 pm Mirz is it correct that we don't need to get permission for any slab extension as long as you don't roof it? That's a really good price Can you let me know if you find the other model as well ? Is it Samsung or something else ?? They cost about $400 + in the market otherwise Build thread of our Monaco Lux Q1 - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76750 Update: Handover - 2 Sep Re: Sahara Q1 - Backyard WIP 2393May 16, 2015 9:28 pm Izzyb Mirz is it correct that we don't need to get permission for any slab extension as long as you don't roof it? Building the Sahara Q3 with Henley I'm not sure about that. Our verandah would have roof and it would be built on top of concrete apron around the house. There was no separate permission required except developer approval and building permit. Sahara Q1 - Backyard WIP 2394May 16, 2015 10:29 pm Today's progress:
All fencing posts installed. They will come back on Monday to install sleepers and colorbond sheets. All Saturn switches/dimmers/fan controllers installed. Aiphone intercom installed. So badly want them. That looks like quite a nice Intercom unit. Was there reason you didn't go with Henley's range for the intercom? Was it expensive doing your own? We've got Henley's package 2 system in our quote for $1,263... is it worth looking at doing it after hand over instead? We've got Henley's package 2 system in our quote for $1,263... is it worth looking at doing it after hand over instead? Thanks mate, we loved them too. Cost was the only issue In double story, Henley was charging us $1850 for twin internal stations colour video intercom. They only install Dorani intercom, not sure if it's been changed since we went for tender in early 2014. Problem with intercom is wiring. Every brand has different wiring and setup. In a double story house you can't rewire it, no second shot. Aiphone is a very old and well reputed brand in market and installers highly regards their reliability and parts availability for very old models. Aiphone still runs on 2 wire system. Plus sound and video quality is too crisp. I'm feeling like their sales person already Bought our unit and cables from radio parts in west Melbourne. In case someone wants to buy from them, my advise not to buy from their online store. Ask them for a discount over the counter and you would be surprised. I was concerned if Dorani will fail, let's say in four years time and they won't provide parts to fix it. A newer model with newer wiring setup won't work and we will be stuck with a useless eyesore. Plus Aiphone complete setup cost me $1275 including my DIY installation Just don't forget to lock your brand and run its cables before plaster will go up. Note down location of all cables and you would be perfectly fine for post handover DIY. Re: Sahara Q1 - Backyard WIP 2398May 17, 2015 3:26 am tj9630 Are they very bright at night Mirz? They are perfect, neither too bright nor too dim in dark. Unfortunately, can't take a photo with phone to show you how exactly it looks in dark. Re: Sahara Q1 - Backyard WIP 2399May 17, 2015 7:27 am Was with my security guy the other night and we are getting the same intercom - must be a good one if he is recommending it to me as he knows his stuff! sassid ...building the Emporio with MainVue/Henley BLOG: http://thewaldorfproject.blogspot.com.au/ HOMEONE THREAD : https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75753 Re: Sahara Q1 - Backyard WIP 2400May 17, 2015 10:58 am mirz snyde Absolutely love your switches! I might start looking into the Aiphone then. Just means even more post hand over costs... I wouldn't know where to start with wiring or doing a DIY job like that, I'm not good with electricals at all!
