Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Third House on the Left - Painting & Kitchen!! 21Feb 20, 2014 5:50 pm The inside of the house is now painted in Dulux Natural White. We went full strength on the walls, gloss full strength on the doors and trims and 1/2 strength on the ceiling. I absolutely love the colour- for anyone looking for a fresh white that still has a bit of softness... yet is not too creamy, it's perfect. A tall order lol! Still, I felt a little silly after all the HOURS of research I had put into that darned white and it was still... White. Our kitchen! I had grand plans of waiting until the oven was installed to show you all, but I've already waited a week and that feels like enough. Our pendant lights have already been installed too, but maybe they can be part of the next grand unveiling? Weirdly enough I keep forgetting to take photos on the last few visits. I think it feels so close to being perfectly finished that I almost want to wait to show everyone when it's clean and beautiful For anyone interested in our colour choices. The benchtop is Laminex Eclipse and the cabinets are Laminex White in Silk. Kitchen looks great too. Re: Third House on the Left - Painting & Kitchen!! 24Feb 24, 2014 7:02 pm Frontage looks really nice. I especially like the shot from the kitchen to the door. And the windows, they look lovely too. Re: Third House on the Left - Electrical and Plumbing Fit-ou 25Feb 24, 2014 7:13 pm Nobody else will probably be particularly interested in these pictures but I thought I'd record it all for posterity anyway We were super duper excited to find on Friday that Ergon had finally come and hooked up the house to the power and the hideous temporary power pole that had been placed slap bang in the middle of the driveway had finally been removed! We'd been getting a little bit stressed about this part of the build because (A) once carpet and the finishing touches were done inside the house, we would have been a bit stuck in terms of landscaping etc with it still there and (B) Dan couldn't get to the backyard to put his shed slab down until it was gone Fortunately it all seems to have worked out ok and the delicate balance of timing required for Dan to do the shed prior to the driveway seems to have worked out ok... Fingers crossed! The plan is for Dan, his brother and my dad to do boxing up and concreting this Friday and Saturday just in time for driveway and landscaping next week. According to our supervisor they should be finished by next Friday! This week should be final finishing touches on the inside and next week will focus on all the exterior bits and bobs. We can't wait to move in! We spent Sunday afternoon buying lovely new towels and bath mats and the cutest toaster and kettle The other great thing about the power hookup was that we got to try out our lights, fans and range hood for the first time! We were a little bit nervous about our schweigen range hood as we hadn't gotten to try it in store to verify how quiet it was but it was awesome! For the first time we could non-ironically say how whisper quiet it was lol. I should have taken some piccies with the lights on, but maybe tomorrow! We should even have some carpet pics tomorrow too... Kitchen with our Tom Dixon replica pendant lights Our sexy Falcon oven and Schweigen under-mount range hood Our pretty boring and stock standard lights and fans in every other room Toilets, cute little taps and shower screens (try to ignore the reflections) Our house building journey --- https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=68842 Re: Third House on the Left - Painting & Kitchen!! 26Feb 25, 2014 6:45 am Love it guys...... I really love your kitchen, its gorgeous, I love the dark benchtops and island bench. Good luck with everything, looks like you'll be in before us! Re: Third House on the Left - Painting & Kitchen!! 29Feb 25, 2014 9:16 am I can't believe how quick your build has been, wow!!! Teensiest bit jealous Love your kitchen and island lighting, looks awesome! Glad to see an example of diagonal shower tiling too as apparently our shower floors will be the same so as to achieve a better fall for water. It doesn't look strange at all, phew! Not long now and you'll be in, good luck! The replica pendants are stunning, and your appliances, well, all I can say is ... envy! Re: Third House on the Left - Painting & Kitchen!! 31Feb 26, 2014 6:59 pm This is looking great! I love those pendant lights! We are still yet to choose some! It's so so so s hard argh!!!! When will it be finished? Re: Third House on the Left - Painting & Kitchen!! 32Feb 26, 2014 9:34 pm Love the pendants! May I ask where you got them from? Re: Third House on the Left - Painting & Kitchen!! 33Feb 28, 2014 9:47 am Aargh, I just lost the biggest post ever!! This one will be much briefer... Not as much happened this week as we had hoped but it is still moving. Lots of little mistakes (towel hooks low to the ground, the one set of vertical blinds on the wrong door, kitchen tambour door out and getting fixed so we can use the power points inside the pantry). The most exciting thing we now have is carpet! Our nice fresh, clean carpet is drawing attention to the tiles now, they are filthy! It is bugging me a lot more than I would like to admit! I am very very lucky and spoilt. Everyone who has seen them has immediately fallen in love with them, but I'm still feeling a little guilty about the price tag. Fortunately (or unfortunately) we bought them way back before they started building and we realised how expensive stuff is. I'm not sure if they would be my first choice now... But given that my catchphrase throughout the house has been, "Well... I found something I love, but it's a bit expensive..." Perhaps I'm kidding myself!! Sammi- isn't it funny how we all find different things to worry over? The shower tiling had never even occurred to me! My stresses were the gap between the island bench and the fridge space... And now that my lovely kitchen will be too hot with no fan over it. Crazy!! We need to stop worrying so much, everything has worked despite the worries so far... Mjmelb- don't discount yours just yet, you are so close! Perhaps they don't want to make a guarantee as they are missing just one trade or item, for my friend it was carpet. She said it was so frustrating! Stayxtrue- apparently it might be finished by the end of next week?? Our fingers are crossed, but not going to get our hopes up too high! MrsBee- I am more than happy to share the shop, it's a great one! http://stores.ebay.com.au/unodesmoda/Lamps-/_i.html?_fsub=4535130010 Our pendants were also in the clearance section as they had previously been floor stock, they are in perfect condition though. I hope you find something you love there, I certainly saw heaps of pendants I loved and I thought the prices were quite good too! You must be just about in by now Re: Third House on the Left - Painting & Kitchen!! 36Mar 21, 2014 6:32 pm Thanks for asking Tina. Weirdly enough we had handover today!! The last few weeks have taken a little bit longer than we wanted them to, but we were soo excited to start the move today We will have our first sleepover tomorrow night when the bed and mattress and fridge are delivered Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I will put up some pics of the inside when the house doesn't look like a bomb has hit it lol..
