Re: Redink Battleaxe - lock up + cabinetry! 422Apr 13, 2015 6:06 pm Yay!!! Lock up and cabinets, how exciting! Aren't you glad you asked us all about the splashback; ) I think marble on the splashback would look great, and that's coming from someone who is not a marble fan. Last night's mirrored splashback on the block was a total turnoff. This will be my first experience with a glass splashback so no idea how much work it'll be to keep clean. I imagine a smoky colour wouldn't show prints as much. Granart did ours and they were incredibly helpful and honest with opinions about colour selection etc. Might be worth asking for their suggestions. Re: Redink Battleaxe - lock up + cabinetry! 423Apr 13, 2015 6:28 pm jlo1990 I still think there is a nice contrast between the bathroom vanity and the cabinets, especially in the second photo! I would personally stay away from a mirrored splashback but im really old fashioned, i like the regular tiled one Progress is looking good! Thanks for your thoughts jlo1990 we haven't even thought about a tiled one! archetto Love the marble look on your island, is your bench top the same? What about if you carried on the marble into the splash back if not? I think the mirror looks great but i'd hate cleaning it (and finger prints etc) and i'd not want to look at myself either lol. Bathroom looks fine to me, it'll look different when finished I reckon and you can break the colour up with your styling when you move in. Thanks archetto! The kick board is actually in a marble look laminex, and it can't be used as a splashback. And obviously real marble would cost a load!!! Haha. I might photoshop some different options and post them completely agree with the styling, I hadn't thought of that. I'm sure neutral will work out well as I'm a big fan of pops of colour. ToriMatt8132 Ahhhh lock up and cabinets, super exciting I LOVE the marble look on the cabinets as well, what a clever idea!! I would say mirror I love mirror splashbacks and if you're going to keep it clean, then it doesn't matter if it's dirty whilst your cooking. It'll give the room such a bigger feel as well I think. Thanks Tori! I do love the mirrored option and it will reflect our living area and our alfresco, which would look nice. FantasticFour Another fan of the marble! Not so of a mirrored splashback, too contemporary for my taste. I'd keep it all classic and like the idea of that marble as a back splash! Thats the real hero piece of your kitchen! Thanks Fantastic Four! Unfortunately the kick board is actually in a marble look laminex, and it can't be used as a splashback - it's not heat proof. And real marble would cost a load! I might have a look on pinterest and check out some other options trixee The marble looks sensational! I personally love the look of a mirror splashback but not the cleaning of it. Not sure if smoked mirror would be easier to clean or harder. Thank you trixee the mirrored splashbacks are tinted darker than usual mirrors...so they aren't toooo bad cleaning wise. Might suss out some alternatives as I'm sure there's loads I haven't thought of. ardie514 Yay!!! Lock up and cabinets, how exciting! I LOVE the marble (such a fan) but I agree about the mirrored splash from last night, although ours would be one big mirror not the disco ball look we've had a look at some splashback options...I can't remember if granart was in the mix. I've mirror as well as a light grey glass and dark glass. I might photoshop them into my kitchen, with the floor and get some more opinions! I also liked the mirror idea at first, but was put off by what people say re keeping it clean. But mostly the fact that every little thing on your benchtops - both the close one and the island will be mirrored, so any clutter/dirt would be instantly duplicated! It could look cluttered very easily? I do love the look of it though - I'd say go for it if that is what you fancy! You could always change it later down the line, and fashions do change so you'd probably expect to change some things in a few years time anyway. I'm currently considering for our house - should we one day have one of those things! - your 2nd and 3rd options, frosted/metallic light grey/silver, or darker charcoal. Haven't made up my mind yet, might even go for bright white. Found this on All Things Glass' website which I found through an add link on H1 - and I quite like it Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ (source: http://www.allthingsglass.com.au/splashbacks.html) Re: Redink Battleaxe - lock up + cabinetry! 425Apr 20, 2015 3:25 pm MalSannie I'll dare to be different I personally wouldn't replicate the marble for the splashback, the pattern is quite bold and I think it may be a bit too much of a good thing? Unfortunately the kickboard is laminex so we can't use it for a splashback. I think we'll go with glass in a light grey to tie in the marble kick board Our build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=68804 Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/jadeshereejust/ Instagram: https://instagram.com/jadeshereejust/ Re: Redink Battleaxe - lock up + SHOPPING! 426Apr 20, 2015 3:49 pm Hi y’all, This beautiful Perth weather has put me in quite a chipper mood!!! We’re still chugging along with the build, and we’ve got our tile meeting tomorrow! There’s a fair few things that we’ve been noting down that need to be fixed but our SS seems to be on top of everything so hopefully he’ll pick it all up. Now for the FUN stuff! I’ve doing a bit of shopping here and there, and given that we’ve kind of got a kitchen coming together I start to see how it’s going to look As usual…comments and feedback are most welcome! Hey MalSannie we're getting the sofa in a grey...I couldn't bear cleaning white that's exactly why we love those stools...everyone can sit on them! Where are they from? Cheers Hi Beazley, They are from Tillys Lighting in in Osborne Park they have an awesome range but more in-store than on their website (these pendants are called the Costino) Our build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=68804 Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/jadeshereejust/ Instagram: https://instagram.com/jadeshereejust/ Re: Redink Battleaxe - essastone installed - pics 431Apr 21, 2015 1:54 pm Hi all, We had our tile meeting with our tiler this morning. He was very thorough And I was super excited to see our stone benchtops had been installed Tiling is expected to be finished next week, and then we’re on the home stretch. I got the standard answer that PCI will be approximately 8 weeks from completion of tiling but I'm glad I knew to expect it as it doesn't seem like there's loads left to do. I'm going to put together a post handover list this week... Hope everyone is having a great Tuesday! (I meant I wouldn't have marble as splashback too ) Re: Redink Battleaxe - essastone installed 435Apr 21, 2015 4:46 pm I really love the marble, I wonder if it is hard to add after handover over the top of the existing kick board hmmm. So wish I had waterfall edges I was getting depressed over it the other night lol Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 Re: Redink Battleaxe - essastone installed 436Apr 21, 2015 5:31 pm millbridge_build_wa It's all looking wonderful! Thanks Bonnie MalSannie Love the stone it looks great! (I meant I wouldn't have marble as splashback too ) Thanks MalSannie...deary me...me and my skim reading I agree, I think marble would have been too much of a good thing! archetto I really love the marble, I wonder if it is hard to add after handover over the top of the existing kick board hmmm. So wish I had waterfall edges I was getting depressed over it the other night lol I don't think it would be too hard archetto - it's cut ever so slightly short and attached to the essastone with silicone. Your bench will look fab without waterfall edges!
