Amazing range if colors! At a least you have that to compare to if it doesn't turn out right. After staining our deck this weekend I realise staining kinda requires some patience and practice - I really think whoever did ours just slapped it on in thick layers. So it probably just depends on your painter. Ours was rubbish all up and I outlined that pretty clearly on our evaluation. I wish we had thought about asking for clear varnish. The wood was so nice it was terrible to cover it up so much. Though I think there is large variations in the door wood quality / colour variation so that mightn't work either Re: Redink Battleaxe build - Lathlain - prestart complete! 135Jun 03, 2014 12:51 am My fingers are crossed that it will turn out nicely! I think I'll have words to them before the stain goes on I doubt that it will help but who knows haha. Did you do your own soak wells? If so, who did you get them through? That's another thing on my 'to do' list. And they only have one drawn on the plans, which my Dad thinks is a bit odd. I bet I'll need more...sigh. I originally wanted the bench to be in the new marble-look caesarstone (so nice!) but RI are essa not caesar. I'm glad anyway, I think a whole bench in marble would have been a bit much not to confuse the situation, but I noticed some new marble looking colours on essastone site. thought of you! front door stain looks great. sounds like it may depend on what colour the door starts out as. sorry to hear you had such a crap painter asj25. hope we don't get him too. OMG ardie thank you so much!!! You are a life saver! I have been umming and ahhing for the past couple of weeks thinking that the laminex marble pattern is a bit too heavy compared to the subtleness of the caesarstone but that essastone looks just as lovely as the CS. Only thing is our interior designers told us the marble caesarstone was so popular it's on back order for two years. Hopefully essa will have more in stock than they do Our build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=68804 Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/jadeshereejust/ Instagram: https://instagram.com/jadeshereejust/ Re: Redink Battleaxe build - Lathlain - prestart complete! 139Jun 03, 2014 1:46 am Had a look at the essastone and there aren't any pics of it other than the sample so it's a bit hard to tell how it would turn out. DH and I had a good chat and we are sticking with the marble look faceback. If I decide I can't stand the marble look in a few years' time at least the faceback will be a bit easier to change than all the stone but thanks letting me know about that Ardie...I'm glad that DH and I could discuss it now as I bet I would have had stone envy if I saw it once we'd already signed off on everything. I love oak colour, or alternatively maple - neither seems to 'date' in my view. Thanks for the insight!
