Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 31, 2013 10:24 pm Hi I have just signed a contract and had soil testing for my new home through statesman homes SA. I am now considering my colour selections and would appreciate help please. After looking at many brick colours I have found I really like the pgh Castillo - but would like to get it with charcoal mortar. Has any one upgraded to this, if so what was the cost? even if not through statesman it will still give me an idea. Also wondering the cost to get a glass or mosaic tile splash back in the kitchen too? We are building the myrtle alfresco and are on a tight budget so would like to know upfront of cost so I don't look too shocked at colour selection This is our first ever build so any helpful feedback would be very much appreciated. Re: First Build - Largs North - statesman, help appreciated 4Jan 04, 2014 12:50 pm Hi Meg, We liked the Myrtle alfresco we also considered that plan and went back to the display home multiple times but couldn't modify it to suit our needs. Were close to signing with statesman with a modified version of one of their other designs but found a better design to suit us with a different builder at last minute. Love the color of your carpet. And I know What you mean about timing, we did the same thing. Have signed with builder and yet to have selections but have already sorted out our flooring and have it on layby. I figured the longer we have to pay it off the better!! How far away until your selections? It is our first build too and the unknown of how much to spend at selections is stressing me out while the list of things I want to include in the house keeps growing haha. Re: First Build - Largs North - statesman, help appreciated 5Jan 09, 2014 7:28 pm Hi Carmen, Who did you decide to go with and what design? Selections are still a few weeks away I guess, not yet booked in but plans are being finished now so hopefully not too much longer. Just hoping to keep in budget. When will you have yours? We visited the selection centre today but it was difficult to compare things with just tiny little samples Trying to decide between black or white essa stone for the kitchen benches and am lost when it comes to the bathrooms - was going to go all white with black bench tops but there is so many things to choose from. We have decided on PGH bricks - Castillo with colourbond roof, gutters, panel lift door etc all in woodland grey. Hope it looks ok, im not a fan of render. Good luck with your selections. Re: First Build - Largs North - statesman, help appreciated 6Jan 09, 2014 7:59 pm We don't have any render on our house, just the bricks which we love Re: First Build - Largs North - statesman, help appreciated 7Jan 12, 2014 11:49 am Hi! We are building a Myrtle Alfresco (handover in the next few weeks yay!) and have modified it slightly to fit our needs (Have extended family room out in line with alfresco and rest of house, have changed ensuite to be set out like the one at Northgate display and not the Mount barker one) From memory our glass splashback was about $1800 Hope this helps Re: First Build - Largs North - statesman, help appreciated 8Jan 12, 2014 12:57 pm Thanks ten88, that is very helpful. Would love to see pics if u have some How exciting to be almost complete - good luck with handover hope it all goes smoothly. From memory you are in the new area macmanluke, so we are not far but in the old area near military rd. We looked at buying land in the new section but was cheaper for us to demolish as we bought 7 years ago at a good price. I work on strathfield tce so drive through the new area fequently to check out the progress Re: First Build - Largs North - statesman, help appreciated 11Jan 15, 2014 11:49 am We are building a modified version of the Grand with Fairmont. But now with the new colours I'm not sure anymore. Good luck with your selections. It's the fun part. Unless you're like me and leave there worrying if you chose the right grout colours! hi guys.
