Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 30, 2013 9:34 pm Hi All, Chasing some info on National Homes in Perth WA. I'm currently considering building with them, but not having much luck finding any reviews or info. Appears no one on Home One is building with them! I did have friends who built with them 3 or so years ago and had no problems. Also read a couple of posts on here about issues with some mosaic tiling but asides from that.. So is anyone building with them, have built with them, considering building with them?? Cheers in advance.. Re: National Homes 2Dec 30, 2013 10:10 pm My friend has a national house - it is very nicely finished. Plus their plans are great. Mosaic tiles get the best of builders from what I can tell we had a friend slave over ours and though they are close, I wouldn't say they are 100% perfect Re: National Homes 3Dec 30, 2013 10:17 pm Can't help on building with them but we considered a couple of their designs when we were looking. Seemed reasonable value for money. However, there is one being built close to us and it looks to be going very quickly. Their slab went down after our bricks had started and they are now at (or very close to) lock-up stage. Re: National Homes 4Dec 30, 2013 10:23 pm Thanks for the quick reply all. Have been following your build Oncewerefurriers - also considering Ben Trager homes. They're on my list to go visit once the display homes reopen in the new year. How have you found them so far? Re: National Homes 5Dec 31, 2013 12:31 am elemist Thanks for the quick reply all. Have been following your build Oncewerefurriers - also considering Ben Trager homes. They're on my list to go visit once the display homes reopen in the new year. How have you found them so far? Overall we'd recommend them. The value for money (when considering 2-storey designs) is very good. Many of the 'luxury' items (Stone benchtops, undermount sinks etc) come as standard and the upgrade costs are generally reaasonable. Some people don't understand/appreciate BTs approach to 2 storey building (concrete slab/clad timber framed walls). It was one of the things that attracted us. I'd certainly go and have a look at the displays. We found the admin-into-build was quick but they have 100 or so builds at the moment so not sure if they're getting to the build phase as quickly. The woman that dealt with us in the pre-start phase was outstanding. We've had a couple of issues with some of the aspects of the build but we're confident they are being addressed. We've had a few meetings with the eponymous Ben Trager who seems a genuine bloke who is very interested in maintaining the quality of the builds. Emacleo0 has just finished her build and seems satisfied. http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=62841 I'm sure she'd be happy to give you feedback too. Re: National Homes 6Jan 16, 2014 1:49 am I am currently building with NH Perth and we signed up in November 2012 and have just had our slab layed this week. Can not comment on the quality of the build, but hoping after 15 months of paperwork we are now going to have a good build. You will require a bucket load of patience, we will hopefully move in by the 2 year mark? Re: National Homes 8Jan 16, 2014 2:03 am elemist Hi Rella82, Thanks for the feedback. What's taken so long in completing paperwork? Your guess would be as good as mine. I believe it is just the way things seem to be going at the moment. We had issues getting the plans, getting contracts, getting into pre start. Council was surprisingly quick though once it was submitted. We ended up doing our own earthworks so this may have caused some delays in the sense of things being different. We only did pre start in October I think it was.... Now slab is laid there is a delay getting brikkies to site. Re: National Homes 9Feb 16, 2014 11:14 pm Rella82 elemist Hi Rella82, Thanks for the feedback. Plan problems, getting into pre-start etc. Quoted $28K for site works (on an almost level block). Do you have any information on senior managers names and/or contact details? There is a severe lack of customer service! Re: National Homes 12Mar 20, 2014 10:53 pm Rella82 Hi elemist, Good news today our bricks have started. It has taken just over five weeks since slab down. We are building in Roleystone. How are you going with making a decision ? WooHoo! Congrats on the brickwork starting, hopefully it goes smoothly from here on in. I signed with National a few weeks ago, but titles aren't due out till end of June so just tweaking the plan and making sure everythings ready to go. *edit* and i just realised you posted this like a month ago today! haha hopefully everythings powering along now! Re: National Homes 13Mar 21, 2014 12:09 am Hey elemist We are still in the brickwork stage now. Most of the internal walls have been completed today and it looks like just the garage, alfresco and portico to go now. We might finish bricks next week. We have met our site supervisor who seems great and the brickies had actually picked up on a couple of mistakes made eg. Power was run into wrong spot. So could be fixed easier and sooner! We are happy with work quality so far hope your journey to get to this point is smoother than ours! Use your CA and give very strict time limits for them to reply and get back to you. Our site works were crazy at $140,000 odd! They were still crazy to do ourself but cheaper! Have you signed contracts yet? By the way who are you dealing with and what stage are you at? Also we made our sales rep earn her money and were forever in contact with her haha sales reps don't get paid til you get to Prestart so they are desperate for you to as well! Hope things start to happen for you soon. Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74682 I would never build with Fowler homes.
