Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 13, 2008 2:16 pm Well I finally visited Boral in Thomastown today and am slightly closer to finding a brick for our new home
We are looking at Port Phillip - I have seen it on a number of houses - some of which I like it on, others which I don't. Anyway the people at Boral gave me a list of addresses that it can be seen on and some of them are named as 'Show Homes' They have listed; 147 Dargi Green Caroline Springs 28 Golden Grove Narre Warren 105 Carabeen Way Lyndhurst Now after some google searches I have found out the address in Lyndhurst is one of Burbanks display locations but I am at lost to find out which companies the other 2 addresses are I knew that we on Homone have visited a number of displays between us and was hoping someone had visited the first 2 places and could tell me which company they belong too Thanks in advance guys Bel Re: Displays in Melbourne 2May 13, 2008 2:48 pm haywgl We are looking at Port Phillip - I have seen it on a number of houses - some of which I like it on, others which I don't. I might be wrong, but I dont think there are still any active displays in Narre Warren for example. I know PD used the Port Phillip brick on one of their Cranbourne North Diplays which is now closed too.... Built Porter Davis "Dromana" 2007. Wondering if I'll have people stalking my house after I move in (I'm using Port Phillip bricks) Received keys to my new home on 16/5/08 Re: Displays in Melbourne 5May 13, 2008 4:36 pm Colleen Do Boral give you addresses of houses that are still being built or ones that are finished? Wondering if I'll have people stalking my house after I move in (I'm using Port Phillip bricks) Both - they pull up a list of where a brick has been delivered in the last however long....so you might have Bel stalking you!! Re: Displays in Melbourne 6May 13, 2008 4:52 pm We got told that when the reps are going around estates if they see a house that looks like a good job worthy of being on their list then that house will get added. If on the other hand the job is rather ordinary (i.e. rough bricklaying) then it’s not added. Re: Displays in Melbourne 7May 13, 2008 5:51 pm Watch out Colleen I'm coming
Actually it was your house that made me first look at Port Phillip - your brick colour looks great! I got a few address off Boral for houses in Pt Cook and I didn't like the look of the bricks on those houses....I'm thinking of getting white mortar with them too. Re: Displays in Melbourne 9May 13, 2008 6:08 pm Were the Point Cook houses in the Port Phillip brick or a different one? Are you only looking at Port Phillip?
My mortar is not white. I don't know what colour it is though it's not actually on my colour selection sheet. The colour they did my mortar in blends with the bricks, rather than acts as a feature. I loved the way it looked on the house they had on display so I selected it and the other colours on the house. The display is in Craigieburn (bit of a hike) if you are interested:
http://www.zuccalahomes.com.au/displays_craigieburn.htm According to the website, the display is still open but maybe give them a call to double check before you go out there. The house you want to look at is the "Ormond". Received keys to my new home on 16/5/08 Re: Displays in Melbourne 11May 13, 2008 7:42 pm Thanks Colleen
I will definatly go to check it out And yep the Port Phillip were the only bricks I was looking at in Point Cook, however, they have also given me a few different houses to look at where the brick has been used so hopefully it will give me a better feel for it. I like your mortar too, I was only thinking of using the white as we will be having white window frames and I thought it might break it up a bit as it will be a double story home....I was going to use Jasper for the render and Dune for the front door and garage but I'm not sure if the Jasper along with the bricks will be too dark....that' why I wanted to see what other people have done Thanks again Re: Displays in Melbourne 12May 14, 2008 10:46 pm Hi Bel
I know that Boral can give you a list of addresses for the specific brick, but you need to be careful listing them in a public forum. Im sure the owners of the listed homes would not appreciate it. Sorry to be cynical but listing people's home addresses is a touchy subject. Re: Displays in Melbourne 13May 15, 2008 9:53 am Hey Andy
No problems at all - I have a list of people's homes who have used the brick (which I would not post on the forum) the addresses I posted were of display homes which I didn't think it would matter if I posted as no one lives in them as far as I know. If these displays have since been sold and are owned I will definatly remove them No need for the email I have a good list of about 10 houses to check the bricks out on. Thanks again My karma ran over your dogma reply 16May 22, 2008 12:39 pm our land is in golden grove!
its actually narre warren SOUTH, so that might be the problem. also, its is golden grove DRIVE and you can enter via glasscocks road (camden gree estate entrance point) or ormond road. they cut off the entry to golden grove - it was only temporary. and for the no. 28, i guess you'll have to look around! some of the displays have closed down though. I do enjoy the drama:-D In his latest two videos he has started bringing security guards to site, I am waiting for the punch on to begin lol 6 45498 It's all about wireless, self install now.
