Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Build - Carlisle Atlantique 33 Mk4 - Melbourne West 41Feb 08, 2014 3:47 pm Yesterday we went to the site to see if anything was being done not thinking there would be.. but again, another fantastic surprise.. They are such fast workers once they get started.. We have our Drainage in a lot of pipes sticking out of the ground. its fantastic to see things above ground now.. Next week they should be starting on the preslab work.. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We really are now getting a sense of just how large this home will be. Judging by the length of these pipes sticking out. We also found out from CH that the temporary fencing doesn't actually get put up until after the drains are in, so all this time we have been disappointed when we get to the site (before the meter box of course) when we arrive at the site and no fencing, when they don't even do that bit hahahaha. Re: Our Build - Carlisle Atlantique 33 Mk4 - Melbourne West 48Feb 09, 2014 2:41 pm Hi melfordgirl I also built with CH was very happy with them through the build had a cpl small problems but they fixed them all If I can give you some advice it would be take plenty of pictures ( looks like you have that covered ) lol thje stage your house is at now I took pics of all the stormwater pipes ( the ones with the yellow paint ) as these will be the pipes that get damaged as your build gets going. I had upto 5 of these broken off and covered over with dirt it was only when I showed the pics that they got the plumber out and re did the stormwater the day before my concreter was due to start!!! You can check out the pics on the CH forum Good luck with your build im sure you will love your house when its all done Site Cut 8/04/12 Slab 13/04/12 Frame 18/04/12 Roof 07/05/12 Lock Up 06/06/12 Keys 30/08/12 Re: Our Build - Carlisle Atlantique 33 Mk4 - Melbourne West 49Feb 09, 2014 4:03 pm thanks coobri.. yeah i will do that for sure.. didn't think of doing that you build didnt seem to have taken much time at all.. 4 months?? thats pretty quick. hopefully mine will be as well. Re: Our Build - Carlisle Atlantique 33 Mk4 - Melbourne West 50Feb 09, 2014 8:59 pm melfordgurl, it's so exciting seeing your build in real time. Brings home the fact we'll be in the same position later this year. Yep, it's a long wait til Aug and you would be fully enjoying your house by then. oceanblue, we've got our colour selection this week. It's so nerve racking going through everything as much as possible.....I'm exhausted, can't wait for the colour selection. Good luck for yours this week! Re: Our Build - Carlisle Atlantique 33 Mk4 - Melbourne West 51Feb 09, 2014 9:14 pm Yeah i would hope we are in by then ahaha. Its a very exciting time.
We picked out our light that is going above the centre island bench from Beacon Lighting. Re: Our Build - Carlisle Atlantique 33 Mk4 - Melbourne West 52Feb 10, 2014 8:05 pm Today we got emailed to us our construction final drawings, colour selections, colour sketches & building variations.. There was only one item in the building variation that we didnt know was comming, it was an additional charge for changes to insulation because the rating dropped from 6 to 5 because we added a window in our bedroom, added the downlights to the ensuite, added the heating duct to the ensuite and the extension to the alfresco. Not too sure how this would have effected our decisions to keep these changes if we had of known it would have affected the star rating. Considering the extra cost is less that $1500, not convinced we would have not gone ahead with the changes.. Its not that much of an additional cost. Re: Our Build - Carlisle Atlantique 33 Mk4 - Melbourne West 54Feb 10, 2014 8:52 pm its 249 but i have noticed beacon now have them cheaper than what i put them on layby for.. even with the discount.. not pleased Re: Our Build - Carlisle Atlantique 33 Mk4 - Melbourne West 55Feb 11, 2014 12:02 pm [quote="melfordgurl"]its 249 but i have noticed beacon now have them cheaper than what i put them on layby for.. even with the discount.. not pleased /quote] Hi Melfordgurl, Your build is looking exciting! We are at the exact same stage as you. Storm water pipes in and meter box! Yay for us!! As for your lights, they are stunning. Try asking beacon to drop the price for you. Some places do it. I once bought a vacuum cleaner from good guys only to see it on a catalogue for $50 cheaper a few weeks later. I went back to the store and they refunded me the $50 difference no questions asked! But there is a time limit you can do it for. I don't think I have been complaining much.. hahaha Re: Our Build - Carlisle Atlantique 33 Mk4 - Melbourne West 57Feb 13, 2014 8:05 pm We have our pre-slab in place.. ready for concrete pouring. Turns out the piers were not needed so CH are raising a variation to credit us back to costs for the piers. YAY. The guys must have started really early, we arrived there at 11am and they were almost done. Our slab pour is booked for 20th Feb, I wonder if they will pour earlier or leave it like this for a week? What have others expirenced? Also, we still don't have a water meter/tap.. is this unusual? should we have it by now?? Photo Time!! Re: Our Build - Carlisle Atlantique 33 Mk4 - Melbourne West 59Feb 13, 2014 8:09 pm OceanBlue It sounds so exciting! Waiting for our build to start but it's long way to go.
