Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 18, 2013 10:06 pm Hello All,
Its been a while since I have been on this forum. After a false start with another builder and land issues in another suburb my (now husband) and I have taken the building process a lot further and it is 100% full steam ahead. Previously we were going to build a massive Double story in a town called Bacchus Marsh. With issues after issues with the land and other problems we pulled back and left it alone for a bit. In May 2013, we sold our house and then my husband (then fiance) got very ill. My husband is now on the mend and we are more determined to build the house of our dreams and enjoy life.. So here it is so far.. In October 2013, we looked at Carlisle Homes. The design we liked 3 years ago they still make but with a couple changes that i am pleased about. We have decided on the Carlisle Atlantic 33 MK4 design, we have made a couple minor modifications: : Extended the Alfresco about a meter and a half : Changed the doors on a room to Cavity Sliding Doors : Added feature tiles to the Vanity wall in the Ensuite Here is the basic design of the house Here is the front colors we have chosen Yesterday we got our approval (full) from the bank, so its happening for sure this time and my husband and i cannot wait. Tomorrow we have the fun of signing the contracts. They say the build will start in Feb, hopefully they can start it earlier.. Re: Our Build - Carlisle Atlantic 33 Mk4 - Melbourne West 2Dec 19, 2013 6:37 pm Contracts are now signed, it was such a pleasant experience. Our CS was great and very happy with the process up to now. As promised, we received a soft copy of our contract before we made it back home and we also got our letter from the Water Authority for connections.
Very happy. Re: Our Build - Carlisle Atlantic 33 Mk4 - Melbourne West 4Dec 19, 2013 7:15 pm OceanBlue Congratulations , big day for you. Our contract is getting signed in March. Eagerly waiting. We have done a prelim colour appointment. The actual colour selection is in Mid-Feb Re: Our Build - Carlisle Atlantic 33 Mk4 - Melbourne West 10Dec 23, 2013 3:08 pm Oh cool.. I loved the colour selections.. they have so much as standard and the upgrades didnt cost us a mint either.. Re: Our Build - Carlisle Atlantic 33 Mk4 - Melbourne West 11Dec 23, 2013 10:15 pm I am looking forward to our colour selection. We are planning to go standard as much as possible. One thing I am willing to spend extra on is floor in hallway and family area. CH said upgrade to 600X600 semi porcelain is possible, nothing extra for tile, but additional labour cost. Lets see how much that will be. Re: Our Build - Carlisle Atlantic 33 Mk4 - Melbourne West 12Dec 23, 2013 10:20 pm OceanBlue I am looking forward to our colour selection. I think you will be pleasantly surprised with the cost.. i dont know about on a 51sq home (gawd thats big haha) but i know on our home it wasn't a lot. But we have timber floors in our hall.. Most of our selections were in the cat 1 range... we did a couple minor things like changed the shower head in the ensuite, added feature tiles above the vanity in the ensuite, added downlights above the vanity basins, added the silver chrome trim around the bath hob.. and tile niches in showers.. didnt cost a huge amount. but then yours has 5 bathrooms so thats a different matter for costs We even liked the standard for vanity basins.. you get a choice of 3, unlike another builder we were almost going with, only the one.. jeee.. Re: Our Build - Carlisle Atlantic 33 Mk4 - Melbourne West 13Dec 23, 2013 10:26 pm We are not upgrading tiles in the 'five' bathrooms . Just the hallway. Yes, we liked the standard vanity and taps. As you said, decent choice in standard range. Another major spend will be LED downlights. In double storey home retrofitting downlights is expansive so we will have to go thru CH for that. Yeah i imagine retrofitting anything in a double would be expansive as well when it comes to having anything done to the downstairs bit. I remember when we were looking at the Milano, i was going to have to get all electrics done to the bottom floor as it was being built or by CH for me, was going to cost me a fortune.. Even things like power points and foxtel points. top floor no problem. was just the bottom. Re: Our Build - Carlisle Atlantic 33 Mk4 - Melbourne West 15Dec 30, 2013 2:13 pm oh hi you do have a blog im so excited to follow your journey and hopefully share mine with you soon. id love to know your CH experience good and/or bad especially seen as your in the western suburbs of melbourne as so am i may i ask where you guys are building? cheers and keep us posted with your house updates please kylie Re: Our Build - Carlisle Atlantic 33 Mk4 - Melbourne West 16Dec 30, 2013 2:26 pm kylieandjasondevo oh hi you do have a blog im so excited to follow your journey and hopefully share mine with you soon. id love to know your CH experience good and/or bad especially seen as your in the western suburbs of melbourne as so am i may i ask where you guys are building? cheers and keep us posted with your house updates please kylie Hiya Kylie...Im Mel.. Yeah i am excited as well, we have had a few failed starts so this is particularly exciting. I am building in Melton West, how about you? Ch so far have been fantastic.. their sales quote was spot on for costs at Tender, after all the changes and things we did to the house, our contract(tender) price is only around 6k more than the origianl sales quote.. and we added a few things inside at color selections.. Re: Our Build - Carlisle Atlantic 33 Mk4 - Melbourne West 17Dec 30, 2013 2:30 pm Today we got confirmation from the bank the valuation for the build of the house has come in. We are good as gold. Our broker wasnt expecting any issues because we are building with CH, he said some other contracts he does for other builders the bank wont value the house for what they are paying.. but ours is all good!!.. Just waiting for the staff to come back from holidays to go to the next stage of the process. Re: Our Build - Carlisle Atlantic 33 Mk4 - Melbourne West 18Dec 30, 2013 2:31 pm here is a drawing done with our color selections on the front of the house.. looking at it like this, i am getting more and more excited.

What bricks are you going with? Thanks We are glad the valuation came in OK, that was a big weight haging over us.. The bricks are Austral Access Chestnut We were lucky in that our old house was so small (86 square metres) compared to the new house, they were able to take enough readings around the old backyard house before… 8 37150 Carlisle use to sneak a water resistant "Performance Solution" into their contracts.
