It is quite difficult to do given the instructions. They do not detail the position of fans, telephone cables, aircon switch, NBN, Gas points, etc, etc. Are we aslo supposed to book an appointment for the brickwork, I was under the impression this selection occured at the Final Builders interview? Chris Oh the electrical plan is soo hard. Just write on all those extra items and make up your own symbols and put a legend to the side of the plan. They will go over it with you at your final builders interview. I even made some changes to power points at the interview and the lady suggested a few other things that I had missed. I didn't have a bricks appointment, didn't know it was an option? I visited the display center a bunch of times and took a couple samples home and then just finalised all exterior colours at the Final builders interview My Build thread --- https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=67313 Final Builders Interview - 18th Nov 13 Site Works - 11th Dec 13 Slab - 16th Dec 13 Frame - 7th Jan 14 Re: YIKERS!!! My First Home, My First Build... 23Feb 18, 2014 8:27 pm Hi, Crap!!!!!!!! I only did the Power Points Lights and Switches and TV points.... It never mentioned anything else in the instructions.......I thought the extras like fans, AC and other things was later at the FBI????? should I call them?? I have sent it all in. BTW Chris I copied the Plans on my copier at work about 6 times and did my plan at least 5 times before I was happy where everything was...... and I did a light plan plus switches and a second one for Power points and TV points on another.... Im sure they will figure it out. Have my brick selections this Friday out at Golden Grove so will stop in on the way home to DI to get a few quotes on EXTRAS/UPGRADES that I want in the ensuite. I'm upgrading the Oven to a two door separate grill version above the standard and the larger cooktop plus Vegy washer tap in the Kitchen Fairmont Portobello @ SM's Contract - 27/5/2013 Land Settlement - 10/2/2014 Selections - 28/2/14 SLAB - 5/9/2014 My Build - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=68647 Re: YIKERS!!! My First Home, My First Build... 24Feb 19, 2014 10:23 am Misslibe - Great idea! I'll go ahead with that at this stage and send it all in. I'm afraid that if I send it in and sign the electrical plan, they will slug the variation fee if we need to change antyhing. Or is this variation fee for the building plan only? I have my Supreme Kitchens appointment today which is exciting. Will let you know how this goes and what to prepare, look out for, etc. I have printed off a ton of pictures for this interview today so hopefully all goes well. On another note, does anyone know whether we are able to purchase our own ovens, rangehoods and have them installed after the build? I am happy with the oven selection but the rangehood seemed quite excessive for the upgrade. Re: YIKERS!!! My First Home, My First Build... 25Feb 19, 2014 6:11 pm Which Oven RH upgrade are you thinking?? My First Home, My First Build... 26Feb 19, 2014 7:53 pm I have gone with the 90cm Westinghouse WRFG943S Rangehood and the 90cm Westinghouse WFE912SA. Finished with Supreme Kitchens selections today. Happy that I kept the selection to under $2.5K. This number can EASILY blow out haha. In short: Bench - Diamondgloss Laminate Polar White Cupboards - Gloss Fiordland Elm Soft close doors Push open door for Linen cupboard Linen cupboard - Laminex Polar White Silk Finish Brushed stainless steel kicker Unfortunately the door color was my second option. The first option would have set me back $3.5K! Time to work on that electrical plan! Re: YIKERS!!! My First Home, My First Build... 27Feb 20, 2014 4:30 pm Yeah I went out weeks ago to get a good look at what I need and will need to upgrade to. Both to DI and to SK's, I like the upgrade to the Westinghouse separate Grill oven model and I'm choosing to go with the larger/wider cooktop and I guess then the Range hood needs to cover that increase???I'm choosing White 2 pack look and a Dark Top theme but I'm happy with a lot of the standard selections. I'm interested in the soft close drawers as I have opted for drawers throughout the kitchen and have them in my original quote and I want a slide out Bin cupboard absolutely!! it should go at the end of my island bench. What splash backs are you going with?? I m also interested in the Aluminium Kickers as well. My official appointment for my Bricks at PGH tomorrow and DI next Friday, SK's two weeks after that. Although I'm still waiting to hear back from Council approval and my Boundary/ Garage side Neighbours need to send back the Permission to build on the Boundary Paper work Fairmont sent me to send to them. They get to sign off on my Final plan and are supposed to send it back to me so I can get it to Fairmont. Anyone else having to do this with neighbours and boundary building??? Have completed both selections now and have sorted a few changes and a few last minute additions before the deadline date, although some things at SK seem a bit exy!! As the raised section behind my island bench so I could accommodate a double PP at each side of the sink for power was $550 for a 150mm thick box in to accom the wires!! My First Home, My First Build... 29Mar 27, 2014 7:19 am Hi Joffo My plans were lodged by Fairmont with the council on 5 February 2013. It has currently been 7 weeks and still awaiting council approval, which is a bit crazy and frustrating. Especially after you get told your plans and area qualify for the Rescode in which approval should take 10 days! The council did however make a request to Fiamront for Stormwater design, which would have delayed the process a little, but coming up 8 weeks is a bit crazy. How is yours coming along? Re: YIKERS!!! My First Home, My First Build... 30Mar 29, 2014 1:58 pm Hmmmm I was contacted by consultant that my back end of the house needs to shrink by about 300 mm to accom the councils expectations that building so close to the easement (yah!!!!!) running along the back end of all our blocks along league....so I now wait longer for them to re jig my design ........ I'm losing space in my dinning and alfresco which won't cost anything as they said it will fill out in other aeras of the building........... Waiting waiting waiting. I kinda thought at the time last year that my house without mods was tight being right on the edge of the easement but hey ya get told it's all fine........... It's council I guess but the builder should know these things Fairmont Portobello @ SM's Contract - 27/5/2013 Land Settlement - 10/2/2014 Selections - 28/2/14 SLAB - 5/9/2014 My Build - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=68647 Re: YIKERS!!! My First Home, My First Build... 31Apr 26, 2014 9:43 pm Hope your council approval has gone through. Agree the builders should have known about the easement stuff. Fingers crossed it all comes out better for you. tammy your welcome to follow our build https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64842 Block cut - 15th February 2014 Re: YIKERS!!! My First Home, My First Build... 32Apr 30, 2014 8:04 am Council Stalled because of the Plans to my House.... Go figure.... I have an easement at the back of my block and..... although i was told last year when designing the house to squeeze on the 12.5m X 30m block that it wold be fine, the footings will slightly overhang onto the easement area and council have rejected the plan......they say it is around 300mm 30cm to far onto the easement, so I just got a new plan sent out (after 5 weeks) and they have shaved off (essentially) a bit of an overhang for my alfresco area as it jutted out past the rear of the house a ways, which is the rear part of the dinning area..... I have gained in the Lounge area as they have added length though lost the width but gained in length and this now takes the lounge wall out further/closer to the side fence on the garage side.... Not sure if I like it like this as I had intended to make that area the BBQ area next to the alfresco.......... so I am considering rejecting it and make them do it another way........ the alfresco doesnt have to retain the same floor area as this is what they have tried to keep although the whole area has been moved back...hmmmmm Fairmont Portobello @ SM's Contract - 27/5/2013 Land Settlement - 10/2/2014 Selections - 28/2/14 SLAB - 5/9/2014 My Build - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=68647 Re: YIKERS!!! My First Home, My First Build... 33Jun 02, 2014 5:20 pm Well.... have had two plans sent back to builder as I did'nt like the way they have re jigged my original plan..... I hate the idea of losing length in my Kitchen as this shows up the most, and I freaked that my kitchen cupboards lost up to 400 mm and my center island too!! as I feel my kitchen is tight for work space anyway...... so sent it back and said do it again.....with my suggestions... I'm not losing any length in my kitchen.... so I have lost a bit in my Dinning area I can live with.... so will be waiting another 5 weeks??? for Plan F to arrive with amended dimensions..... I noticed on Sunday that my Stage has a few houses started in its area....... Yah.... I think At the rate its going I'll be the last to build along my street LOL BTW Plan was sent to Council mid February...................... My First Home, My First Build... 38Jul 02, 2014 8:27 am A hint there are still decisions that can be made during the final builders interview. I placed a tap in my fridge space I have made it so my house can be run from rain water & mains. I'm sure there were others but I cant remember them at the moment etc. Just make sure you have everything submitted and or ready to go on your final builders interview, as otherwise it will be just further delays. (EG. We were still awaiting my pre-approval from the bank in regards to the house cost, delayed me a few weeks) I was also delayed as they had to redo my roof supports to deal with my solar hot water and solar power panels. Re: YIKERS!!! My First Home, My First Build... 39Jul 02, 2014 8:28 pm My FBI is booked for next Thursday at 10am..............Thanks ST13 Im planning on a 3rd tap outside connected to mains not the recycled Purple line... I was going to get both loo's connected to the purple line as well, as I think I only get 1 as part of the standard price..... If I get plumping loops (for Laundry and maybe both loo's) outside with closed off ends for future Rain water tank (adding much later) can I do that??? I need to add a Whirly gig to the roof and I want to revisit my Electrical layout and light points etc..... I cant think of anything else..... I have covered a lot already with them as far as extras go....... outdoor power outdoor gas connections etc and the fridge tap etc. I'm not flashing up too much (LED DL's etc) Im on a strict build budget and will go with a lot of standard stuff.
