Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Leafsmart Gutter Guard 3Dec 14, 2013 5:57 pm I haven't physically seen this product but the mesh profile is very good. It is also metal, essential in a bushfire area. Obviously a good product. I would normally recommend that a person looks at the Fielder's WaterGate zinc mesh. This comes in a pack of 8 x 1.25 metres, retails in the Bunnings garden section for around $40 a pack and fits a standard 115 mm - 125 mm wide gutter. It is easy DIY as the mesh clips under the roll on top of the gutter's front wall, making removal for access easy. Most mesh systems are screwed to the top of the gutter's front wall. http://www.fielders.com.au/aspx/Watergate.aspx Check downloads on RHS. If you are building a new home or replacing the gutters, the only product that I recommend is the Leaf Safe Guttering system. http://www.leafsafeguttering.com.au/ This is a superior surface tension guttering system. Unlike other mesh systems that disrupt the natural front to back gutter flushing during moderate to heavy rain, the Leaf Safe system directs all of the water at all times through the front wall, ensuring the gutter is constantly cross flushed. The failure of meshed gutters to adequately cross flush results in sediment build up that promotes weed growth, a major criticism of leaf guards. The inventor also developed the bull nose surface tension system that was marketed in Australia by Boral a number of years ago. That early system let in pine needles and some other organic matter but it is still popular in the US. The US Gutter Helmet is a bull nose design and the video linked below shows how effective surface tension (more correctly "surface adhesion") systems are during heavy rain. http://www.gutterhelmet.com/how-it-works/ 3in1 Supadiverta.
