Re: First build in Adelaide Hills (Statesman Homes) 5Dec 24, 2013 5:10 pm Nice plan. Lobethal will be a lovely place to live. We're building with Hickinbotham--same people as Statesman. Re: First build in Adelaide Hills (Statesman Homes) 8Jan 01, 2014 9:24 am Looks great - I assume we may have signed up at roughly the same time (end of Nov). We are building the myrtle alfresco with statesman in Largs north. The houses have a lot of similarities - my fav feature being the long kitchen looking onto the alfresco. Our block is roughly the same size ours is 596m2 I think. Our soil test was done on Monday so im anxious to see if the footings $ stay the same. Is yours done yet? was it the same? Good luck with it all. Re: First build in Adelaide Hills (Statesman Homes) 9Jan 09, 2014 10:38 am house plan looks nice hope the build goes well Re: First build in Adelaide Hills (Statesman Homes) 10Jan 09, 2014 4:19 pm Good luck sirpsycho66, I am building modified Greenock with Statesman too at Elizabeth park but has been on this journey since June last year. Few stressful moments but it is all start to come along. We revieved our master plans back ages ago and are still waiting on the soil/footings report. its taken so long to get back, they keep saying you will recieve it this week but we keep getting nothing. very frustrating, it feels like its taking forever. can not wait to see any sort of progress. how did you guys go with your color selections? we know kind of what we want, did you spend much on extras? would be interested to know roughly how much a few extras costed. hope everyone elses builds are going well. Regards Re: First build in Adelaide Hills (Statesman Homes) 12Apr 22, 2014 10:06 am Hi sirpsycho66, I would say it is a bit strange that it was such a long delay. Did you talk to Emma and asked her what is going on and why do you have to wait that long for the soil test? I must say I am a very vocal person when it comes to the building process. I would call and call and call until I have the result I am happy with. I would also ask to talk to the manager and seek an explanation from him/her as Statesman have very specific timeline for the pre-construction process and give and take a week or two it should not take that long. With our selections, I did not have many upgrades at all. I had only extra draws in the main bathroom, mixer tap in the laundry, internal doors, about 10 extra double power points, 2 tv points, oven, stove, range hood, two toned colour to the kitchen, sound proofing to one of the bedrooms walls, 10 cm adjustment to the kitchen height (as I am a pretty tall person). It seems much but cost wise it was not as most of the upgrades were in $50-$300 per item range. With my first build (H*ckinb0tham), at one point I just was getting no answers, the same "any day now" reply and no one could actually tell me what the hold up was... I ended up calling and getting a "we will call you back" reply for about 2 weeks and no one ever did. On my day off I drove into the office and sat there and waited at reception till someone spoke to me - took 45 mins till the realized I wasn't moving and someone offered some sort of clarity for me. I have no idea what the hell they were doing and why they couldn't just tell me over the phone, it took extremes to get anything happening! Anyway, I feel for you and hope that it doesn't come to that for you. We are also in the Hills, building with Simonds Homes in Mt Barker Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66299 Slab: 16/6/14 Frame: 4/7/14 Roof: 22/7/14 Lock Up: 20/8/14 Fixing: 26/8/14 PCI: 9/10/14 Handover: 20/10/14 Re: First build in Adelaide Hills (Statesman Homes) 14Apr 23, 2014 12:20 pm Hi guys Have been calling them today but no one is answering my calls except the receptionist, and yes vladmari her name is Emma, we are planning on upgrading a few things so hopefully it all works out, if this is a preview of what to expect it's gonna be a headache. Hopefully it doesn't come to that deluxes but I'll be straight down there my next day off if I don't hear from them soon, Re: First build in Adelaide Hills (Statesman Homes) 15Apr 23, 2014 12:29 pm To offer some peace of mind, once the build started I had no issues. Things were done at a good pace and there were no hassles, but getting it to that point involved a lot of stress, frustration and pain. I hope it doesnt get to that for you either! (I feel so bad for the receptionist there - I doubt it's the same one from 9 years ago! But,she must cop a lot of calls and the same "I am STILL waiting for a call back" ones at that!). It is always the receptionist who is answering the call, it is either Ricki or Nicole and if you ask them to transfer you to Emma, 90% of the time Emma answers straight away. If not, I would leave the message to call me back urgently. Once or twice they were on the meeting but if I did not receive the call from them by the afternoon (I usually call in the morning), I would call again. As deluxes said, it is much better when the construction starts. Not without the hiccups though like we had frames delivered almost two weeks ago but frames for the roof were not there. I have waited for a week and then called the office and have been told that it was a delay with the supplier and it will take another two weeks for it to be delivered but 30 minutes later I have received the email from my Construction Office Staff that it will be only a week and it is booked for tomorrow. I also had a bit of a problem with the Council and did call Statesman office number of times and it was solved pretty quickly after that. So be persistent, cal them and demand the answer. In regards to the upgrades, if it is not the structural change, then everything else is done at selections appointment so you have plenty of time for that but it should not delay your soil test results and engineering report. Good luck and I am sure you will have everything very soon in your hands. I found this worked better than by phone.
