Re: Sydney equivalent of "Kevin" - Building Inspectors 69May 07, 2009 2:14 pm Further to my post above about BSPR Consulting Engineers (Menai) - we have done the pre-plaster inspection and received the report. We have no problems with this company and will probably use them again for the pre-handover inspection. The consultant found about 4 things that needed attention and the SS got onto them right away. Probably the most serious was an inadequate steel packing piece between a beam and a support post to bring the beam level. The SS got a welder to come to the site to weld the assembly practically the following day. Our only reservation was that it took a couple of weeks to receive the written report which contained no surprises. Also I notice that their website isn't working at present. Re: Sydney equivalent of "Kevin" - Building Inspectors 70May 07, 2009 2:49 pm I called up BSPR yesterday. A pre-handover inspection is $374. He did say the report will normally take a week - an indication that the report will be slow. For Howard, he said report can be ready the evening of the inspection day. However, due to my location, his price is $495. I called up another one - just random pick from yellowpages.com.au. $395 and report turn around is 24-48hours. So, I guess I will ring around a bit more first As I wish to have handover as soon as possible, hope to find one with speedy report turnaround Building Clarendon Brighton - Done and moved in Sept 2009 Re: Sydney equivalent of "Kevin" - Building Inspectors 71Jul 16, 2009 2:11 am Does anyone know a Pre Purchase Building Inspector who is a retired builder? I had heard of one long time ago but never kept the details as customers often rely on their solicitor to select one. Sorry if it is somewhere in this thread, I did try to read it all but I am looking for one for a customer. Re: Sydney equivalent of "Kevin" - Building Inspectors 72Jul 18, 2009 12:46 pm Anyone? Looking for a pre purchase inspector with extensive building experience in West or South West Sydney. Re: Sydney equivalent of "Kevin" - Building Inspectors 73Jul 20, 2009 11:20 pm Thanks for that. I was silly to wait for another suggestion. My customer is very specific; he wants an ex builder to do his inspection. BTW. Long time no see stevep79, I don't see your posts too often these days. I suppose you would now be spending more time at landscaping and appliances forums than finance. Re: Sydney equivalent of "Kevin" - Building Inspectors 74Jul 27, 2009 3:30 pm Hi, Inspectors Galore lists a range of inspectors in sydney. Sydney Independent Building Inspections are quite reputable. Just thought i'd share a resource for future inspection reference. Regards Daniel Re: Sydney equivalent of "Kevin" - Building Inspectors 75Aug 01, 2009 11:05 pm Hi Guys, Has anybody that has arranged there own independant inspections been asked to pay an induction fee by there builder? We had our site start appointment the other day and when I enquired if this was possible, they said it is, but we would be up for $500 so that the independant inspector could be inducted onto our building site and carry out the inspection! Seems a bit excessive to me. Any advice will be greatly appreciated Cheers, CMET Re: Sydney equivalent of "Kevin" - Building Inspectors 76Aug 02, 2009 12:34 am CMET Hi Guys, Has anybody that has arranged there own independant inspections been asked to pay an induction fee by there builder?
