Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 10, 2013 10:32 pm We have signed our contracts to start building our dream home. We are building the Denver 36 and I can not wait! After reading another woman's blog on her Denver build, I thought I would share my experience too as I got so much out of hers. Here is a copy of the floor plan of our house. We have mad a couple of variations, like the walk in linen and we extended the garage and bedroom area. Total house size comes closer to 38 squares now. The building permit and fiancé are going through now and once both are approved we will get our start date. I am sooo excited! I will be adding photos during the process of the build. http://goodwindenver36build.blogspot.com.au/?m=1 Re: building Our Denver 36 Dream Home 2Dec 11, 2013 2:15 pm That's so exciting Ally! Good luck with your approval and I'm looking forward to more updates Casey + Gary + 5 kool kiddos + 1 funky Frenchie + 5 happy hens = barrels of fun in Muswellbrook Re: building Our Denver 36 Dream Home 3Dec 11, 2013 8:10 pm Lovely plans. I love the little study area within the master - great idea. So much more functional than "retreats" in the master IMO. Which way is North? Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65085 Re: building Our Denver 36 Dream Home 4Dec 12, 2013 7:31 am Thanks guys. It's pretty exiting. The office was originally located where the WIR were. But I somehow convicted my husband to swap the two around so the Robes were bigger. My plan it to put an island bench in the robes, but that will be done down the track. North is in the direction of the garage. It's not ideal but given the block did not have much choice. Re: building Our Denver 36 Dream Home 5Feb 11, 2014 3:01 pm We have our start date.... Finally! It has been a long road getting hear but it is worth taking the time in order to get your plans exactly how you want them. After this stage we can no longer make any alterations to our plans. Site scrap will begin between now and Monday. I am so excited and counting down the minutes till I see the first sign of a home. I will put up some pictures as soon as their is something to take pictures of Re: building Our Denver 36 Dream Home 6Feb 18, 2014 9:57 pm Monday has come and gone and no start. I did receive a call from the builder and he said he would be there on Friday to do the site scrape. Then he said the frame should be up within a fortnight. So that's super exciting. Can anyone tell me how to ad photos? Re: building Our Denver 36 Dream Home 8Feb 19, 2014 6:04 pm OAS Hi Ally, we are about to build with Metricon too. Did you add any electrical points or lighting? If you could post your electrical plan that would be fantastic Re: building Our Denver 36 Dream Home 18Mar 08, 2014 7:36 pm James1985 Hi ally, we are just at the begining of our Denver 36 process and are awaiting site costs. Did you add any electrical points or lighting? If you could post your electrical plan that would be fantastic Hi James. Yeah we added heaps of points. Downlights with dimmers, junction boxes, another tap ourside, outside power switches, and a additional hot water system. We thought that because the house is so long it would take forever to get hot water to the ensuite. Especially because we are on tank water we could not afford to waste water. This is something i would recommend thinking allot about. Things like there is no power switch above the laundry cabinetry, if you are attaching your dryer to the wall above your washer, which is located under the bench. We also added a power point to the side of the island bench. This is handy for when you are baking and need a hand mixer. Also if you are mounting your tv to the walls. Measure how far up the walls you want power points and antennas. Hope this helps. Can not wait to get in there. Im a bit concerned with our wast discharge point. They have put it on the oppisite side of the house to where our septic tanks are going. We told them about the error the day the plumbing was put in the ground, but it looks like they might not correct the problem.
