Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 09, 2013 10:58 pm So we just had our slab poured and I noticed a pipe sitting right on the edge of the pad- its where I assume the brickwork would be so it's a bit strange. They have done the toilet, shower and one drain for the bathroom but this thing I have no idea what it is for or why it's sitting right on the edge- anyone know what it is for? Ours was conduit set in the slab so the plumbers could feed the water pipes through to the island bench in the kitchen. Have a look on your plans and what room it will be in. It could also perhaps be conduit for cabling if it's going to an island bench with no walls near it. A photo would probably help! Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! Re: Pipe in edge of slab?? 7Dec 13, 2013 10:12 pm Sorry I couldn't respond earlier- I tried to upload a photo but photobucket keeps crashing my computer! It's where the shower cubicle is but off to one side- we have a double shower but there is only one pipe.. ( and it's not the shower drain because that's already there) I haven't had a chance to speak with the builder yet but I will! Also noticed there is no drain in the toilet... Is this normal? Re: Pipe in edge of slab?? 9Dec 15, 2013 7:48 pm I'd agree that its the sewer vent pipe that will eventually extend up the wall and through the roof. Most new builds these days conceal this vent pipe in the wall where as older houses have them external to the house.
