A big one if you ask me.... I could have sworn I chose to have mitred tiling however it looks as though I have not. I think this is because we went for the porcelain or rectified tiles (whatever costs more money) and because the tile is the same colour on the inside the prestart lady said it wouldn't look too bad. What I didn't realise is that the white wall tile would not be white on the inside and now (because we went full height tiling) around the windows is an ugly light orange border! Queue melt down. I have emailed my CLO because I want the tiles ripped out and redone with mitred edges. I can probably overlook the hobs in the shower but I 100% cannot deal with the ugly windows. Hopefully they say this is okay (they are ripping out a few tiles anyway because they ran out of feature tile). I am just wondering about the cost involved! I can't believe we overlooked something like this - we have not scrimped anywhere in this house and now a simple oversight makes it ugly!!! On a slightly better not - oven is delivered, cook top is in, sliding doors to wardrobes are in, air conditioner is in. But I won't be happy until I get this tile situation sorted! Oh they also installed an ugly soap dish I don't remember requesting and it's nowhere in the paperwork so I want that removed too. AND there is a decent crack in one of our back bedrooms I want looked at. We were going so well and no it's everything all at once! Since I am in no rush to move in, I will be spending the time (and money) in getting in right. If Ventura don't want to rip out tiles I will have to get my own tiler in afterwards. All I know is I am not leaving it as is! Rant over (for now!). Re: Providence, Wellard - Bathroom tiling commenced 350Mar 04, 2015 10:43 am I’m sorry to hear about your tiling issues Aimee. It makes me really angry when you think we pay so much money to experienced builders and things like this arise. I did the same as you and paid for a lot of extras however basic contractual things like getting a T bar over our garage door was never mentioned to me. Something that I now know we would have defiantly asked for! Sounds like this is something I should know about Re: Providence, Wellard - Bathroom tiling commenced 352Mar 04, 2015 11:50 am They won't change the tiles!!!! I will have to organise after handover. I hate building haha They are removing the ugly soap dishes though. Kelley - it sucks. We did get the T Bar (thanks to a DA sales rep pointing it out to me!) but I am so bummed about the tiles because we had the discussion at prestart about them being the same colour inside!!! A t bar is the bricked up bit over garage door:) Providence Estate - Wellard, WA - Ventura https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=68532 Pinterest (all selections): http://www.pinterest.com/aimees88/final-house-selections/ Re: Providence, Wellard - Bathroom tiling commenced 353Mar 04, 2015 2:21 pm aimees88 Update - we have an issue. People's eye generally won't be drawn up well over your shower height and you can get a surprisingly good finish with the stuff if you apply it nicely. Its unfortunate it wasn't picked up, but just try white tile paint. I cant' see how mitred tiling on full height wall would actually help if the tile isn't porcelain all the way through. Usually its used on external corners (like a bath or shower hob)...They don't make it standard as it can be quite sharp and some people don't like the sharp corners for a safety reason on shower and bath hobs etc. I think you'll be surprised what it could look like painted. I will try the paint first and see how it goes. It would help on full height tiling because around the windows there is now a bored of orange however if they were mitred there would be no orange bored. I think because I've got Black and you've got White tiles the edges stand out more! Definitely go the tile paint and see whether you like it before ripping them out and replacing You're house is beautiful, so don't let this get to you too much There are sooo many things that I completely forgot about during prestart, even with all my notes I'm not sure anybody gets it 100% but I wish the builders had a checklist of ALL possibilities and then you just had to say Yes or No Ooh I do need a sparky for after handover so send his details my way Are you getting carpet and painting with Ventura? Not too much to go for you, do you have your PCI date yet? My build thread https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70655&p=1164017#p1164017 Our House is full of magical things patiently waiting for our Home to be built Re: Providence, Wellard - Bathroom tiling commenced 360Mar 08, 2015 11:05 am vetty19 So sorry to hear about the tile issue First thing I noticed once our tiling was done were the ugly edges around the hobs and window (more so, the window) thankfully, ours aren't orange but I've already told hubby, I want to paint those edges with tile paint. Not too much to go for you, do you have your PCI date yet? I am half over my dummy spit about the tiles. No doubt when I get in I will hate them again though haha! You are telling me - I actually went to the estate open day yesterday which was really good but looking through those display homes made me second guess every damn choice! I shall send you his details.... I already have a decent list for him but am considering getting down lights everywhere (which he charges a lot less then the ones I got through the builder! ) Carpet yes, we upgraded the carper and underlay but painting no, we are getting Elite Painting (Michael) who actually painted my investment before I sold it and did a really good job. All I know is that I am 100% not painting. I might actually ask him to paint my tiles too Should be getting a PCI date next week. Electricians were in doing their thing, air con is in, appliances are in, carpet is not yet in (I don't think).... I have no idea what else is to be done though! I have really slacked off on this thread because I have started my new job and am doing uni so I don't have time to build a house too! I actually told my mum I don't have time to pack or move and she said "don't worry, I will be packing your stuff and moving you myself" Providence Estate - Wellard, WA - Ventura https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=68532 Pinterest (all selections): http://www.pinterest.com/aimees88/final-house-selections/ Yes, I have.
