Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 12, 2008 9:17 pm Hi
We are building the Cremorne with PD and it come with a standard double garage door. Will that fit 2 cars (a toyotal corolla and a honda crv) ? Also, for those who are building the same house, are any of the garage wall plastered ? We have an internal access to the house from the garage. Thank you Re: Garage of PD Cremorne 2May 12, 2008 9:21 pm Have your plans got measurement on it?
You should be able to get the specks off the plan to see if your cars will fit. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Garage of PD Cremorne 3May 12, 2008 9:32 pm Hi
The cars will fit, but I would strongly suggest that you widen it either 0.5m or more, depending on the width of your block, and cost of course. We made our garage wider by 0.5m and it has made a difference. Especially if you wish to have a work bench, fridge, etc in your garage. All the garage walls are brick and not plaster. Only the ceiling is plastered. Hope this helps. Just realised that we have the standard double panel door at the front and was wondering if the cars will fit side by side ? As for the garage wall, does that mean that the wall where we have an internal access is not plastered as well ? Thank you Re: Garage of PD Cremorne 5May 12, 2008 9:49 pm No walls at all are plastered. We too have a door that we can access to the inside of the house via the garage.
Wow 1.5m, extra width thats great. our block didnt allow this. PD didnt allow me to extend the garage right to the fence line, which they did, as having the smaller roller door would be so handy. Your cars will still fit no problem. We have 2 med sized cars and they fit fine. Re: Garage of PD Cremorne 6May 12, 2008 9:54 pm awallace No walls at all are plastered. Re: Garage of PD Cremorne 7May 12, 2008 10:30 pm Normal garages for Porter Davis are 5.54m x 5.54m. Keep in mind the Australian Standard for double garages is 5.7m wide and 6m deep. Re: Garage of PD Cremorne 8May 13, 2008 11:42 am Unless thing have changed recently - PD plasters your garage on all walls except above the rear garage access door. The standard size is just over 6m x 6m. (Our home is a PD lifestyle too - same range as the cremorne!)

Just checked our plan again, the garage is 5.62 x 6.12 Cheers Re: Garage of PD Cremorne 11May 13, 2008 9:06 pm If you can I'd recommend adding half a metre to the garage width to assist with ease of access in and out of the cars. That being said, 5.6 metres is reasonable but a bit tight. Just that at the front, it is only a standard double garage door of about 4.8m....just wonder if it will fit. Cheers Cremorne Garage 13May 13, 2008 9:18 pm Vanderlay
The Cremorne is a two storey home and all walls of the garage are brick. For sure and certain. Andy will back that up. SFSG Cool- you guys are building it!! Just suprised you dont get plaster! The doubles seemd to get all the extras! Built Porter Davis "Dromana" 2007. Re: Garage of PD Cremorne 15May 14, 2008 11:24 am Yep. Brick it is in our Cremorne 41. We added an extra metre to the width, and if you plan to have an internal access door, it's very worthwhile adding some extra width - otherwise your internal access door may need to open into the house.
Important to note that even if you add some width to the garage, the door remains the standard size (unless you request otherwise). Door width wasn't a big deal for us, but the overall width was important. Cheers Re: Garage of PD Cremorne 17May 14, 2008 12:20 pm We were very fortunate in that we were able to widen the garage by 2.8m to allow for my workbench, tools etc. I tried for 3m but ran out of room We too have gone for the rear roller door - I have a trailer and this will be an easy way to tuck it out of sight.
Hysterical, I reckon widening the roller door at the front would help, even 200 - 300mm - just makes life easier when driving in and out. Yes, fully agreed that widening the front garage door just by that 200mm would have made life easier, but i guess it is too late. Nevermind...next one perhaps... Re: Garage of PD Cremorne 19May 14, 2008 10:17 pm We asked if we could have the internal walls of our garage - Cremorne 41 - bricked and were advised by our CSC that no, they had to be plastered. Then at tender we asked again and we were told that three walls would be bricked but the wall up against house where internal door is would be plastered. We've now seen our plans and guess what..............all four walls are showing as bricked! Alot of bother for nothing......
We didn't extend our garage in any way. We measured our current garage which is alot smaller than what we will have in the cremorne so we've left it.
