Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Coral Homes at Vantage Point (Elderslie) 21Dec 18, 2013 7:19 am Wow, that is a great way to "build" your kitchen. I downloaded this as well after I saw your post. I enjoyed using it, but I couldn't complete my kitchen as I have done a little bit of customisation to our cabinetry. I like how spacious your kitchen is. It's really big with loads of bench space. And I like that your oven is up high. I was like you, after I made all of our colour choices, a little worried that we had not chosen the correct combination of colours. Yours however look great - you have used that really nice woodgrain and the splashback and benchtop really tie in with the colours featured. I cant wait to see what it looks like when it's installed! When I was waiting for our building to start, I was always looking for different ways to visualise what our completed home would look like. I never found this, but it's great! Here are some other handy links you might find useful. I used Google SketchUp (free download) to do our entire floorplan, and then used it to create a 3D model of our entire house. http://www.sketchup.com/ I also used Metricon's Envisage to play with internal and external colour schemes. http://www.metricon.com.au/lookbook/envisage Re: Building with Coral Homes at Vantage Point (Elderslie) 22Dec 18, 2013 7:14 pm Tiger-eye, Thanks for the links it's really useful especially the Metricon's appli which makes me realising that I should have chosen the initial color I have picked but which I changed to bright one at the meeting... I may try to call Coral in case of they let me make a final change. It's just about paint color, so they should not charge me for that. I know, they may charge me... Thanks again. You have great taste! I also like the Crepe Neutral one near the end. We are hopefully about to build with Coral so are finding this thread very helpful thank you Re: Building with Coral Homes at Vantage Point (Elderslie) 25Dec 21, 2013 9:30 pm emmakay, Thank you, I like the Kimono Linen too, the brown one, would match perfectly with our bedroom. Where are you building? Coral is a quite flexible builder and the staff is helpful. All the best for you. Re: Building with Coral Homes at Vantage Point (Elderslie) 26Dec 22, 2013 7:38 am Looks like the same masters we went too. We really liked those, cupboards and splashback, then I decided a lighter colour for cupboards but my husband still liked these better and we then liked a brighter splashback. Seeing this again though, I do like the cupboards. Shows how our minds can change so quickly. Although I am not a walpaper person your choices look like they would make a house look lovely. I like the linen brown walpaper best for a bedroom, it is definitly a nice idea. Good luck. J&J Building our Home on The Coast. Re: Building with Coral Homes at Vantage Point (Elderslie) 27Dec 22, 2013 9:34 am Jenm, I do not like wallpaper stuck everywhere in a house but just on selective walls, like one wall in the bedroom, one side in the entry just next to the front door and eventually one in the living room (not sure here). For the color selection, I know, I have already changed my mind since the color meeting which I didn't prepare enough I believe... Re: Building with Coral Homes at Vantage Point (Elderslie) 28Dec 22, 2013 9:40 am Hi Sukarabikun, I agree wallpaper looks really effective when used on feaure walls! We are building in North Lakes, 30km north of Brisbane. Thanks for the positive feedback about Coral, it's really good to hear. Re: Building with Coral Homes at Vantage Point (Elderslie) 29Dec 22, 2013 10:05 am emmakay, Yes it's all about flexibility (Coral allowed us to customise the layout), a good contact with the Sale Consultant and also a mutual respect. Our Sale Consultant is very experienced and such a nice person as well. Beware of the liers and also of the rookies. For example, we were also interested about another builder but the Sale Consultant was such a lier ready to sell by any mean. Coral ticked all the box, even if they are not perfect though. But so far most of the issues were solved with an email or phone call. Re: Building with Coral Homes at Vantage Point (Elderslie) 30Dec 26, 2013 1:50 pm Ever heard of Phillips Hue ??? I'm thinking of using my standard battens for this instead of moving to downlights... Looks fantastic stuff, more details here:http://www.meethue.com/en-US Re: Building with Coral Homes at Vantage Point (Elderslie) 31Feb 21, 2014 7:44 am If you're curious to see more houses with frost bricks ours has them too! Ours are like tyger eyes, white mortar and ironed joints. It looks really nice in our opinion I had never heard of those hue lights, but they look really cool! I did see a picture of a glass splashback that had lighting that changed above it so it cycled between colours once, maybe they were using those hue lights? Now I can stop worrying about the brick choice Looked already great on Tiger-eye's one so I wasn't stressing out that much. Just got confirmation for the mortar. Thanks. Re: Building with Coral Homes at Vantage Point (Elderslie) 33Mar 16, 2014 4:09 pm Finally after long delays for getting the land registered + long summer holidays both for the builder and certifier, the building has really started. It's getting really interesting as we can start imagining the floor plan in 3D as I was able to walk through each room. What happens with the stabbed pipes is the plumbers run the pipes too close to the slab. Then the concreters punch their stakes through them while putting the formwork up. We had a couple like this at our place - I've only just found another one too while putting in some drainage. That sloping slab corner isn't good. Have you raised it with your SS? I'm wondering if they're repair it by building it up a bit with concrete, otherwise the brickies can level it out by building up the mortar in the first row. Looks a bit too much of a drop for the brickies to handle neatly. That Activity room and the doors opening to the Alfresco is a great look. Should be some lovely rooms there. Thanks, here is a picture of the glasshouse at today's stage http://i903.photobucket.com/albums/ac231/sukarabikun/IMG_2296_zps054b8512.jpg Lucky I did because he didn't notice. Now I need to check with the new SS what's gonna happen here. I reckon it's gonna be too much for the brickies. Re: Building with Coral Homes at Vantage Point (Elderslie) 38Apr 02, 2014 6:56 pm Last week was a stormy one but this didn't affect the work which keeps going at the same pace. It's all about mud and water all over the slab so let's hope that the frame is enough treated against corrosion. http://i903.photobucket.com/albums/ac231/sukarabikun/IMG_2262_zps5a4a3148.jpg Except a few bumps http://i903.photobucket.com/albums/ac231/sukarabikun/IMG_2217_zps43c64094.jpg the frame looks fine but I notices that some slab conduits ending up directly under the frame http://i903.photobucket.com/albums/ac231/sukarabikun/IMG_2220_zps59306b2e.jpg (not sure if it's normal). And in some cases they had to make some cutting work http://i903.photobucket.com/albums/ac231/sukarabikun/IMG_2221_zpsf29348d3.jpg http://i903.photobucket.com/albums/ac231/sukarabikun/IMG_2243_zpsdbd0a814.jpg Most of the windows are also already fitted. I haven't had checked the fitting yet but overall it looks ok. Just a little feeling about the quality of the A&L stacking doors that have a cheapy look and which I discovered recently was shared by other people on the forum. Otherwise I did pop up there after work and discovered that they have cleaned the slab and the hot sun did dry the water up. They also have completed the facia and guttershttp://i903.photobucket.com/albums/ac231/sukarabikun/IMG_2282_zps72dd857b.jpg We also have an electric boxhttp://i903.photobucket.com/albums/ac231/sukarabikun/IMG_2281_zps326471a4.jpg And for Thattime, I've found the grommetshttp://i903.photobucket.com/albums/ac231/sukarabikun/IMG_2290_zps0f8d4143.jpg Dunno where this frame is going, it's been sitting here since the beginninghttp://i903.photobucket.com/albums/ac231/sukarabikun/IMG_2284_zps25e12db8.jpg Re: Building with Coral Homes at Vantage Point (Elderslie) 39Apr 02, 2014 7:19 pm Looks great! We had a few bits and pieces in the wrong places too, but everything turned out fine...they have ways of moving these things! Interesting comment about A&L, our builder has recently stopped using them. For our house we have Bradnams windows (we're really happy with them), however apparently on stacker doors (which we don't have in this house, but will have in the next house) have quite a large reveal on the bottom, so unless the slab is recessed quite a bit, there can be a fair bit sticking up. Can't say I've ever noticed that in a house though! 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Re: Building with Coral Homes at Vantage Point (Elderslie) 40Apr 02, 2014 8:24 pm stellabella, thanks for your comment. Had a very quick look at your photos and love your landscaping and the pool as well. Unfortunately, the pool is not in the budget and we don't have any space for that neither anyway. I'm looking forward to reading your full thread. Your best bet might be to go visit the display homes and walk around in them, and take photos.
