Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ As I was doing some cleaning work this week-end, the roof guy turned up in order to check that everything was ready for him to start tomorrow. And it's gonna be finished on Tuesday... I'm a little bit surprised that the roof is going to be finished before they start the brick work but would be great to finally have a roof with this stormy weather at the moment. Something I'm not very happy with is the way they have screwed the structure to the slab. They didn't even remove the mud and left a thick layer of mud between the plate and the floor truss. And I'm not talking about 1 or two, it's been like that everywhere. http://i903.photobucket.com/albums/ac231/sukarabikun/IMG_2309_zpsbf2dd5e5.jpg I need to speak with the SS about this but in the meantime I've been cleaning all of the floor trusses because I'm sure it's gonna stay like that and will end up with packets of mud left into my walls. Otherwise, good news, they have fixed the sloppy part of the slab http://i903.photobucket.com/albums/ac231/sukarabikun/IMG_2306_zpsf213552d.jpg Re: Building with Coral Homes at Vantage Point (Elderslie) 42Apr 12, 2014 3:15 pm Day 38 and we have reached the frame stage with a roof fully tiled. When I was at the site on Thursday, a whirlybird was showing up still in its box, on the roof Unfortunately it may have fell off the roof since there as I found it like that on Saturday. The may have also played soccer with it. In the afternoon the roof guys came back to the site to complete their work. I bet they are going to fit the damaged whirlybird anyway so I may need to have a word with my SS on Monday. I also noticed a couple of water pipes which means the plumber turned up during the week. And finally I couldn't find the little piece of structure which was sitting here for long time but after a closer look I found it fitted above the corridor door. Re: Building with Coral Homes at Vantage Point (Elderslie) 43May 15, 2014 11:30 am Hi Sukarabikun, I've loved reading through your thread, we're looking at building with Coral too. Do you have any updated pictures? As an aside, we're not too far from you (doing a KDR in an older estate) and my niece and nephew go to Elderslie High. My brother and SIL have been very happy with the school. So far Coral have been doing very well. Our sale person was fantastic (Haylee), people in the main office were also very nice and helpful but a bit disappointed with the supervisors (just lost our second one last week and still waiting a new one to be appointed). Anyway, since last update lots of things happened. 1st they have fitted the damaged whirlybird (the one they played soccer with). Have complained to the supervisor in order to get a new one (could be void by the warranty if getting rusty and stop working). on 17/04 our beautiful Frost bricks got delivered The Air Con internal unit was fitted at the same time The house wrapped That was also the time I met with the Sparky. Asked him for some last minute modifications and waited for the rough in to be completed (which took 2 days). Then it was the perfect time for me to do my data cabling work which end up running a data cable into each room/kitchen/media/living/... The blue cables are the Sparky's and the grey the ones I did. Brickwork were about to start Brickwork was completed on 30/04 This was the brick waste And the left over. Which was about 2 pallets (about $1000 I presume) Our Supervisor told me that the bricks were about to go to the bin (including the left over of cement bags) so that I was free to pick some which I did using a brand new method (thanks Lilas for letting me borrow your scooter) That was the time also when the Gyproc guy started In fact, just after the insulation got completed This is the recess in the media room And the one in the entry (like we often saw in the display homes) This one was a surprise. Someone found a hole behind a water pipe... Well picked. Re: Building with Coral Homes at Vantage Point (Elderslie) 45May 18, 2014 3:32 pm Love your plans and it is looking great! Your layout is similar to ours, I think it will be a lovely family home. What did your ss say about the sloping corner on the slab? Are they replacing the whirlybird? I hope Coral are good to deal with. Love your bricks! I really like the wide garage (I'm a boy) but mine was designed by my wife... The sloping corner have been fixed by the concretor but the damaged whirlybird has been fitted by the roof guys. Our 2nd SS told me that he would contact them but got dumped 1 week ago and we are now waiting a new SS to be appointed. In the meantime the building is still moving forward. Yesterday, good surprise, the house was locked and the Sparky did most of his cutting job. I believe the tiler is the next one to start (really need the new SS to contact me and put me in contact with the tiler). Otherwise, dealing with Coral has been not too bad so far. Even though the 2 SS have not been very helpful nor very quality driven. Re: Building with Coral Homes at Vantage Point (Elderslie) 48May 25, 2014 8:58 pm Glad the concrete got fixed and hopefully the whirly bird does too. I can't believe you are onto your third ss. That's a shame! Emma Knock Down Rebuild with Clarendon Re: Building with Coral Homes at Vantage Point (Elderslie) 49Jun 13, 2014 1:19 pm Hi Sukarabikun! Your build is looking great, it's good to see you're staying on top of the issues that come along. I'm surprised by how many bricks were left over, how many of them did you save? Isn't it amazing how much stuff gets thrown out during these builds. I like the size of that Alfresco! My Build Thread: Coral Homes Noosa 279 Re: Building with Coral Homes at Vantage Point (Elderslie) 50Jun 13, 2014 9:19 pm Hi Thattime, Good to hear from you, your thread helped me a lot during the building process. We've got our PCI date for 3rd of July so we are getting excited and little bit worried about being able to move soon after. Our bank does not need any Occupation Certificate and our SS told me that handover would happen quickly then. But I would prefer to get this certificate as it may impact the insurance, I'm not sure. How was it for you? For the brick, I've saved 1 pallet and there is another one sitting at the front. Our SS told us that they are going to the bin if we don't pick them... I also don't understand the brickies, they sometimes used too short bricks under the windows and did throw lots of good ones. I will need these to be replaced because of gap between the joint and short brick. I'll post more photos this we I hope. But I would prefer to get this certificate as it may impact the insurance, I'm not sure. How was it for you? Great news on the PCI date. Not long now. Things had got a bit slow/bogged down towards the end of our build due to our electrician dropping the ball on a few matters and refusing to finish their work due to payment disagreements. We had to effectively force the matter by saying we'd be moving in on date X and anything that was dragging on would have to be finished by then. This was based on my wife being pregnant and just a few weeks from her due date. We moved in on the agreed date and the plumbers were there until late that night fitting the kitchen applications and tidying up a few connections. There was a few small jobs after we moved in - window strips, and a gas fitting in the laundry that had been missed. A new team of electricians fixed a smoke detector that had lost its power somehow. I finished the last couple of lights that the original electricians were meant to do. It dragged on a few more weeks. Our SS saw us the next week after we moved in with a folder full of documents, one of which was the certifiers sign off. So I think we effectively did PCI after we had moved in. Our final payment was made by the bank and I'm pretty sure they needed the occupation certificate before they'd made the payment. So there wasn't any delay on that.
