Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 30, 2013 8:58 pm These are our favourite floor plans from the final few builders we have narrowed it down to. I thought I'd show them in here and get some feedback from the wealth of knowledge in here. What are your thoughts? Any favorites? Anything a bit undesirable about any of these? FTR the house will be facing pretty much due north (ignore the plan that has the N arrow facing backwards). Re: Tell me your thoughts on these floor plans please. 2Nov 30, 2013 10:51 pm I like the third last one reasons: Large separate WIR and ensuite. Large storage area in garage Under roof alfresco Large WIL Verandah all the way around master separate from other bedrooms WIP Interesting shape Re: Tell me your thoughts on these floor plans please. 3Dec 01, 2013 9:40 pm C for me as well, for the same reasons as above. Huge WIL, nice pantry, store in garage. The living room could be duel purpose with home theatre in there as well. Recently moved to a 60's home in need of some improvement! http://s797.photobucket.com/user/leenii ... ch%20House Old house: http://s797.photobucket.com/albums/yy25 ... loo/House/ Re: Tell me your thoughts on these floor plans please. 5Dec 02, 2013 12:31 am For me - A has the best kitchen placement/ arrangement, but the way you can see what is in the family room from the front door is a big turn off - I like how with the others your cannot see into the house from the front door (more privacy). C and D are my favourites. I would add in a bit more storage if possible - a drop zone if you have children. E has a great ensuite - although the loungeroom backing onto bedroom 2 could be a problem if you put a tv in there.... you could make that a double brick wall though, with the option for insulation if sound is an issue (we have done that). Re: Tell me your thoughts on these floor plans please. 6Dec 02, 2013 5:06 pm Great, thanks for some great pointers! C has been our favourite plan and builders the whole time, so it's great to hear that others think it's a pretty good plan too. My only concern is that the study is only a nook so it's one less room than the others in a way. But then it has the storage in the garage to make up for that. Eta: I'm also a little worried there's not enough bench space in the kitchen in C. My other favourite is A, but I hadn't even considered that you could see the family room for the doorway; that's a great point. Thank you everyone. Re: Tell me your thoughts on these floor plans please. 7Dec 02, 2013 5:33 pm With A - you could swap the activity and the entry around, so you don't see straight in. With C - you could put the over head cupboards in the kitchen, they would be worth the money. My only concern with C is how would you place furniture in the meals/ family area. Would you put the dining room diagonal across the back door and the family room in the top right corner? Draw the furniture on a piece of paper (even if you don't own all the furniture yet.... what you plan to get) Good luck! There are so many things to consider aren't there - it does my head in. I tried to feng shui as much as possible too.... an extra level of craziness. Re: Tell me your thoughts on these floor plans please. 8Dec 02, 2013 7:26 pm Oh gawd, don't mention feng shui! There's enough to consider without that. Plan C is actually this company's display home so I'll go and have another look before we commit (if we do) and have a look at the furniture and that space again. Thanks for the ideas Our build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=69984 If you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain. Re: Tell me your thoughts on these floor plans please. 9Dec 02, 2013 7:33 pm Ah that's even better! You'll be able to see what furniture works perfectly in the space.... and whether or not the size of furniture suits your requirements.
