Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 29, 2013 12:57 am Hi all, Well we finally made a decision to do something crazy and build! Never having built before and only having heard a few build experiences from few friends that have built, this whole thing was completely new and nerve racking for us. On to look for land. We wanted to find a nice modern suburb NOR (I've been a NOR boy all my life) that was also family friendly. We almost had our hearts set on one of the coastal suburbs and whilst looking for display homes we stumbled across Corimbia Estate. We never considered this area before but we really were pleasantly surprised. After a few visits driving around the estate, it became more apparent this is where we want to be. To cut a long story short, we got lucky on a 600sqm, 18m frontage rectangular(ish) LOT situated right across the road of park/playground/bushland. Titles at the time were seven months away, all good gave us plenty of time to find a builder and design of house. We narrowed it down to 3 builders but ultimately we chose Summit Homes over a few factors, cost being one of them. We are building The Monaco 248 and upgraded few things closer to Summits Monaco display home. Your plan looks fabulous, wish we'd managed to get a block as big as yours, it will be stunning Just keep on top of them and make sure they actually build what is on the plan, as they mis-read a few things on ours. BUT despite the stress, we are still amazingly happy with the house they built for us, and I'm off to PCI right now!! Re: Building with Summit Homes, Corimbia Estate Landsdale 3Nov 29, 2013 9:34 am Thanks Twiggens! I've studied and gone through our to tune our plans for many hours but I always have a feeling I've missed something It is a bigger block than what we had originally planne but I do feel fortunate on getting this one as lots were being snapped up right before us. You'll be moving in to your place real soon! Good luck with the PCI. Janicec where as I am jealous of your HUGE block compared to our 300m2 Re: Building with Summit Homes, Corimbia Estate Landsdale 8Nov 29, 2013 7:47 pm haha fmac, we're never happy with what we've got huh! Re: Building with Summit Homes, Corimbia Estate Landsdale 9Nov 30, 2013 7:14 pm Thanks all, I was inspired to start one after following all your threads The recessed ceilings was one thing we really wanted to get Janicec, The Monaco display home had one in the living area and I wanted to get one in the theatre as well. The one in the theatre will have a lighting trough though. Nicci, the bath in the ensuite was a mandatory requirement by the wife, I wasn't going to object Fmac, we've chosen our colours already, It wasn't as straight forward as I initially though but we got something we were pretty happy with I'll post up our colours and selections soon. Hey Wildcats, we are on Huntington is that your street as well? We didn't want to change the floor plan too much from the original but had to extend a couple of the bedrooms fit within the estate setback restrictions. BUILDER SUMMIT HOMES | DESIGN THE MONACO 248 » Our Build Thread Re: Building with Summit Homes, Corimbia Estate Landsdale 13Dec 08, 2013 6:46 pm As expected, not much action happening on our block, doubt there will be until at least middle of January next year, heres a few pics anyway. Someone has left a gross looking mattress with a seriously offensive stain on it dumped on our block, does anyone know if the builder will remove this or is this kinda stuff our responsibility to deal with? and the view of the park across from us Street view... I've frequented the park only a couple of times but gonna give a that flying fox a good workout. Janicec I been dealing with Vic and Leigh and they pretty much made that aspect of things such a breeze. DM1423 That's not cool at all! Would you mind if I ask how much they charged you? Hoping it's not too much of a big deal for them to charge me for that, I'll find out soon enough, and let you guys know. BUILDER SUMMIT HOMES | DESIGN THE MONACO 248 » Our Build Thread Re: Building with Summit Homes, Corimbia Estate Landsdale 20Dec 09, 2013 8:32 pm PixelBit it was $550 for the site clean. I could have done it myself if I hired a bin for about $300 but didn't want to spend all day shoveling bricks, rubble, cement and crates that other tradies dumped on our block. I don't think that one mattress should cause you any problems. Just move it to the back or side and throw it in one of their bins when brick work begins Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74708 I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending.
